I'm just curious, since I'm beginning to feel like a freak of nature. Did anyone NOT dream about your wedding when you were a girl? I can't say I ever thought about it until very recently.
I thought about getting married, but I can't recall dreaming of my wedding. Anyone else?

Re: Anyone Not Dream of Your Wedding as a Girl?
ever since i was about 6 or 7, i always said i wasnt going to have a big wedding because they were too expensive and a waste of money. My FH somehow roped me into the idea because he wanted to have a 'big party'. I am happy that I am doing it, but i am still upset that I am spending $25k for 5 hours. Not my idea of wise spending.

I really did not fantasize about my wedding as a little girl. The only thing i knew that blue is my favorite color and it would be incorporated into my wedding.

I didn't and I still don't. I do think about the HM...but I'm not into the fairytale aspect of the wedding. I love the sanctity of the ceremony and am looking forward to a big party, that's it.
Hey, I'm so confused. i thought you were already married in 05. What big party are you looking forward to?

I know I'm over here thikning I'm a freak! I have always dreamed of being married. I always worried I wouldn't find 'the one' so I think that made me talk and think about my wedding even more. My sister was making fun of me this weekend...saying I've asked her since I was 5 what color dress she wanted to wear (I don't remember this of course, but I don't doubt it).

I never thought about it until I got engaged, honestly. I always said I was never going to get married. I guess I was wrong!

Re: Anyone Not Dream of Your Wedding as a Girl?
I never dreamed about my wedding when I was little...not once and I don't know why.
I mean I played with dolls and played house with my sister, and climbed trees and rode a dirt bike and then joined the Army...but this can't be the reason why????
I never thought about MY wedding until I received a ring on my finger; whereas my brothers girlfriend already has her guest list, dress, BM dresses, cake, etc...all picked out and she's just his girlfriend..........

I'm sure that helped. I never went to a wedding until about a yr ago. I wasn't really guest, my church just allowed people to stay after the service if we wanted to witness the wedding. I wanted so so so so badly as a little girl to be a flowergirl, but it never a happened. In all honesty if there were more marriages in my childhood I might have had a better out look. But also too when your a kid and so many people get divorsed. Most my family has been. All my uncles (whom married) , my aunt and my parents all had divorses. Plus I'm sure most of us here grew up with friends with divorsed parents. College was something more girls look into, rather than marriage. Times have changed.

I don't think I did. I didn't start fantasizing about weddings until FH and I got serious.
Same here! I didn't even want to get married until I met my FH. Two serious relationships prior to him ended because my ex wanted to get married and I didn't.

Re: Anyone Not Dream of Your Wedding as a Girl?
I dreamed of traveling the world, performing on every major stage in every country, with beautiful men and houses and cars and clothes and jewelry, all at my beck and call...
Never dreamed of the white picket fence and 3 kids.... wait, all I have is the 3 kids....
So, no, I never wanted to get married, so I didn't dream about it.

I didn't and I don't. it was funny cause when i went to pick out dresses all the staff asked what i liked or what I wanted. i was completely at a loss.
I told them I didn't care. it just had to be white and a dress.

Re: Anyone Not Dream of Your Wedding as a Girl?
Ha! I was surprised to see all of these posts in my e-mail. I posted this last year while I was planning my wedding and hearing lots of 'You must do this' or 'you must have this', 'You've dreamed about this day since you were a child...' from vendors and some relatives.
I never had dreamed of my wedding day until we started actively planning our wedding, about 3 months after we got engaged. We did it all in 6 months, so it was a whirlwind, and since I went into it not really knowing what I wanted, at times the process was confusing. At times, I felt sort of bullied by the wedding industry to do things in a certain way. In the end, we did what we wanted for the most part, and everything came out just fine. Our wedding was traditional for the most part, but there were some traditional aspects we left out since they did not appeal to us.
I hope everyone out there planning a wedding has a lovely day, just the kind of wedding you want, whether you dreamed of the day or not!

Re: Anyone Not Dream of Your Wedding as a Girl?
I never really 'dreamed' of my wedding. I never had a 'dream' guy in my head either. But somehow when I met my FH, I knew he was the one.
