I just don't want one, a lot of pepple thought I needed the money instead but that is not the case, I have lived by myself for a very long time, actually I own my own home, I brought everything that I need over the years. FH live on his on too he also has a lot of stuff.
My MOH is very upset with us because we don't want one, should I have it just because of my friends and family?

showers are so much fun, you can always register for little extras or even register for a honeymoon and people can chip in donations towards it.
Regardless let them throw you one.

let them throw you one...you could update your old stuff, get new stuff that you wouldnt normally buy for yourself, or have a themed shower... like a lingerie shower, (i am NOT a fan of the honeymoon shower, but if you are that could work) an around the house shower, ohhh the list goes on...but it really is fun for the bride!

If people really want to throw you one, I'd say let them. You could also do: book shower (if you like to read), DVD/CD shower, wine shower...

My best friend had the same dilema. Her mom put it to her like this and she had one. This is your chance to have loved ones care about you and FH. they want to do this for you bothof you! Also wouldn't it be nice to get brand new stuff for the two of you for your new adventure, not your single stuff. Sometimes when you first start out you don't buy the best quality! Upgrade!!!!

You only get married once, and a shower is just one memory you'll always have of your loved ones in prep. of that one special day.
Agreed - you may not want the gifts, but just a thought for your MOH, hint to the guests that you don't have a registry. That will lead ppl to believe that you are pretty much accepting monetary gifts only. Who doesn't need extra cash?

Maybe a Jack & Jill shower where you both attend. They can contribute to a honeymoon fund.
