ok this is going to sound crazy but i have always dreamed of having a FG in my wedding party. the problem is i dont have any immediate little girls in my family or FH family. do you think it would be wrong if i asked one of my good friends if she wanted her little girl to be my flower girl?? this is a dear old friend of mine. we lost touch for a little bit but we are good friends again. but remember she is not one of my BM. so what do you think can i ask my friend if her little girl would be my flower girl or is that wrong since i didnt ask my friend to be a BM. thanks so much for your help.

Re: anyone not having a FG???
I think it would be nice to have your friend's daughter as your FG even if she herself isn't a BM. If she's like most mothers, she'll be thrilled to show off her little girl.

Well......if you are comfortable asking her and it would make you happy, then I guess I would say go for it. I am not having a flower girl. I don't think it is that big of a deal, no Ring bearer either. If it will make you happy, then do it!
Good Luck!

These would have been my words as well. I am having a RB but not a FG. If you feel comfortable asking your friend, then do so but I personally feel that every wedding is different and you don't have to have it exactly as everyone else. JMO

Re: anyone not having a FG???
I may not be....my FH's cousin is young, but he doesn't want her as a flower girl bc he knows her mom, his aunt will somehow get involved (she's a major busy body) and he doesn't want that, I have a young cousin on my side, but they live in Europe and I asked my aunt and she said of course, but my aunt is the type of person to tell me that shes bringing the kids and at the last minute she won't..so I won't know if I'm going to have a flower girl until a week before my wedding

I think you should ask. Actually it is better to not have the mom in the bridal party in case the girl freaks and wants to sit down with mommy. Mine fgs are my cousins... love them and ther mom.. I was a bm for on of their mom's and a junior Bm for the other. I couldn't possibly have both of thier mom's without going crazy and they are soo happy that their girls are involved. It makes the girls feel so nice and special.

She's not for rent ( I don't think) but my hair stylist little girl has been a flower girl in like 4 weddings recently. And my stylist was not in either wedding. It's totally okay to ask to use your friend's little girl.
I may have to borrow a child too. FI has twin nieces but they may be too big to be flower girl's - they are going on 8 years old. It would be cute though - identical twin flower girls.

Re: anyone not having a FG???
I'm not having one. I never imagined my wedding with children in the wedding party. IT's up to you. If you really would like a FG in your wedding, just because you don't have one in the family doesn't mean you can't have one. Same is true for the opposite. FH has four nieces ages 6 through 10 and a nephew. I love the kids but I've only wanted a BM and MOH and no kids.

Re: anyone not having a FG???
I asked one of my good friends if I could use her daughter as my FG. My friend is not one of my BM. She was very honored that I asked and her baby girl is thrilled to be in the wedding. When we went shopping for the FG girl dresses, the little girl said, Mommy, I'm a princess. It was the most adorable thing you could have ever seen. So, its not a problem. Your friend will be grateful.

Re: anyone not having a FG???
I'm actually having three flowergirls - one is my FH's neice and the other two are my cousin's daughters. None of their mother's are BM's. I agree - it is better that way so that they can sit with their mom if they get scared. I think it would be great to ask your friend's daughter.

Re: anyone not having a FG???
i wanted to have 3 flower girls, and have them all wear angel wings. but, then i decided to have my 7 BMs instead (that was more important to me, so it was a compromise with FH)... and FGs are soo cute... but i didnt want them stealing my thunder

Wow I feel so much better after reading this thread. I have not little bambinos in my wedding either. Most children in our families are just too old for it.
