Anyone NOT having a Rehearsal Dinner?

I'm just curious as to what other options are out there....especially lesser expensive ones.

Thanks!!!

You could have it at someone's house

We don't want one b/c some of the BP won't be able to make it at a decent hour. My BP lives in NJ and it will take them a while to get to the hotel and my FH's BP live in the city and also have to work that day. We feel very uncomfortable to ask them to take off of work or take a half day. They all need the money. However, my FI's mother is throwing it for us and we have no idea what to do. We are not having a rehearsal the day before b/c we are getting married at the reception site. We are rehearsing the day of the wedding.

Yes, like yours! I am having my mom and my fi's mom cook and we are having dinner and drinks at our apartment after the rehearsal. If we have the extra cash closer to the date then we'll consider doing it at a restaurant, otherwise, home cooking it is.

All we need is food, drinks and a place to give out presents...everything else is so fussy, I don't want the RD to be at all.

We're thinking about having a BBQ. We will get a DJ (one of FH friends) and have my parents and his parents cook (okay, I should say our moms, his grandma, and my aunts cook). The only problem is that we don't want to clean up afterwards....

FMIL is having a bbq at their house. She did this for FBIL's wedding 11 years ago. lol It's fine by me - at least we won't have to get dressed up.

That's what I like about the BBQ, it's a totally different vibe than the wedding. What are ya'll doing about cleaning up?

We are still contemplating not having one. I didn't want to do it the night before my wedding because I am afraid I'll have a lot going on.

But I can't do it two nights before because a lot of family won't make it. So we are still undecided.

We aren't, can't afford one. Besides, there aren't too many people in our BP, so it shouldn't be too complicated.

Her house - I'm letting her clean up!

I'm sure we'll all pitch in to help - shouldn't be too bad - I hope!

Jenn, how about a Knight of Columbus with just subs and pizza?

I was all set to have one, but truthfully, FMIL is making it a complete control freak nightmare and I am ready to say forget the whole thing.

Ideally, I would at least like to do coffee and cake for everyone. But don't know of a place that would do that on a Friday night.

I'm not having one only b/c there is no rehearsal--ceremony takes place at reception location--but I would like to get a little gathering together to give the bridal party their gifts--just havent figured out where and what?

Thats a good idea....do you have to know someone to have it at a Knights of Columbus...or be sponsored by someone? I'm not too familiar with it.

I know they rent their space for teen dances, but i am not sure how it works. Use this and locate the area you'd like ot have your RD. Give them a call- it couldn't hurt. Knights of Columbus info

Some Churches also rent their basements, you might want to try that too.

We were unable to do any type of rehearsal and it didn't matter to anyone

Re: Anyone NOT having a Rehearsal Dinner?

We are having a rehearsal Sunday brunch as we are getting married at 11 am on July 4th (Mon). I didn't want a dinner and have to be up at the crack of dawn the next day.

We are keeping it relatively small (FH's sisters and families are nine) at 22. The price pp is less than half of what the dinner would cost.

It's at Nocello's in Northport. We ate there this Sunday and we were so full we didn't eat dinner that night.

My Dad is a member of a Knights of Columbus (small one, perfect for a rehearsal) in Levittown just south of Hempstead Turnpike. I could put you in touch with the contact people if you FM me.
