We're not having one. No one else in our family had one so it hadn't even occured that I should have one. We thought with the wedding shower and the wedding, and all the engagement gifts we've been getting anyway that we didn't really need it...

we did not & will not have an engagement party. my cousin had one & ever wedding i have been to since has had one & we both feel its unnecessary. no one has the money to lay out for it at this time.
besides since getting engaged anyone who has wanted to send us engagement gifts has. no obligation.

i honestly didnt think we were gonna have one... but my FW made an excellent point that there were 2 years in between us getting engaged and the wedding, so it was nice to have a party. it was exciting news, and we wanted to share. the gifts were a nice touch... not gonna lie... lol.
but if we didnt have one... i wouldnt have been upset. i think you can go either way on this

we were thinking of it and we decided that being how it is today (with the economy and everything) we decided not to, instead my mom in law to be had a formal dinner for about 20 at er house and we invited close family and had a really great time! and it was a lot more initmate an heart felt.

I didn't have one. FMIL wanted me to and she wanted it at her house because her backyard is BEAUTIFUL but I have a large family and it couldn't accommodate all of them. I was not about to spend money on a hall!!''

we are not having one either. Our family is spread throughout the country, so we will have a couple different showers over the next year and dont see the point of an engagement party.

We wanted to have one but it's eight months now since we have been engaged and we have not made plans to have one. I still want one, but with the way things are going don't know if we can afford it now.

i didnt have one...and am not having one. I actually posted a topic about this awhile ago on the 09 boards. I said it kinda su c ks b/c if you dont have onepeople dont really acknowledge youre engagement. Its sad but true

We weren't going to have one but now I want one. But I am approaching the year mark to my wedding so i if i have one i will have to basically do it now. My family has never done them and i actually feel bad if i have one

My mom is insisting we have one. It will just be immediate family and the bridal party. Probably just a dinner at a restaurant, nothing to huge and formal
