Anyone NOT having inner envelopes for their invitations?

I'm not, is that weird? No tissue paper either.

mine do not come with inner envelopes or tissue paper. Supposedly it is not as common anymore, especially with higher end invitations.

I didn't have one. I thought it was weird, but I couldn't even order one for mine.

The invitation lady told me that most high end invitations no longer have an inner envelope.

I used inner envelopes but no tissue paper. Some people think that the inner envelope is unnecessary, which it is, so I don't think it's weird. I just chose to use them because I like how the names printed on the inner envelope looks. The tissue paper is supposed to be used to keep ink from smearing on your invitations, but unless you get your invitations printed the old-timey way, you don't need it! I think it looks nice to use colored or patterned tissue paper though, just for effect.

OK, cool. I thought I'd be giving my relatives something else to raise their eyebrows about.

I made my own invites, so I didn't have inner envelopes, but I would at least do the tissue paper. I didn't, and I wish I had.

Where does the tissue paper go?

I'm not having them either. They just add to the wieght, which increases postage amounts and are totally unnecessary.

I had 7x7 square invites. They didn't have an inner envelope either!

We had 7 x 7 invites with no tissue and no inner envelope- I was told they don't make inner envelopes for that size invite.

If you don't have an inner enevelope how do you let the person know they are invited with a guest or significant other. I invited everyone with a guest, but some people don't.

And what about the people who date but don't live together. I sent the invite to the closer friend and on the inner envelope put Mr. John Doe and Ms. Sara Smith. How do you do that if you only have an outer envelope...i think it would be weird to address it to a person who does not live at an address...

Good question - what to do about 'and guest' people?

Re: Anyone NOT having inner envelopes for their invitations?

I wrote 'and guest' on the outer envelope. I also wrote 'and family' when appropriate, although I hear that is a total breech of etiquette.

For couples not living together, I addressed it to the closest friend but still wrote both names.

Nope to both. I was definitely thinking the same thing, if others would think its weird.

My invitations don't come with inner envelopes. I'm still trying to figure out the 'and guest' thing. I'm afraid it will look really strange on the outside.
