My invitations don't come with inner envelopes. I'm still trying to figure out the 'and guest' thing. I'm afraid it will look really strange on the outside.
OK, so everyone is wondering about the addressing on the outer envelope... Actually, the 'and guest' thing looked great, the calligraphy was so beautiful, I don't see the big deal. I had a few people that are engaged or in serious relationships who don't live together, their invitation was sent with both names to one address, I have received invitations this way as well (FH and I don't live together) and it's fine. As for families, we put The Smith Family. I hope this helps.

No inner envelope or tissue for me either.
My mother and I are addresses the invites ourselves. She looked up on the internet what to do for families.
It said to address it this way for families with children under 18-
Mr. and Mrs. John Smith Josephine, Margaret, Samuel 123 Main Street Anytown, USA 12345
Children 18 and older should get their own invitation (even if they live with their parents) (but can also all be on the same one- which I didn't know). If there are more than one at an address this is how they said to do it.
Misses Josephine and Margaret Smith ...
We didn't put 'family' only because we were afraid that some people might interpret that to mean anyone that it related to them. We also put 'and guest' on the outer envelope.
That said, we didn't completely follow 'the way it should be done,' because we're using brown ink.
Basically- do what feel right to you.

I am not using them. The owner of Mrs. John Strong, a really fancy invitation company said that she never uses them.

Mine are envelopments (it opens up like a card with a little pocket for the response card, reception card, and map) - no inner envelope, no tissue paper. In my opinion, they are different, but not weird.

Re: Anyone NOT having inner envelopes for their invitations?
Wow - so many ways to do one thing - mail invites. I designed my own invitations to an extent and my friend, who's a graphic artist, made them up and is working through a printer. We're using an inner envelope just for added protection and b/c we thought it was the norm, but never realized anything was printed on the inner envelope until last weekend when my mother showed me an invite that had her and my father's first names on the inner envelope. I'd never seen anything printed on an inner envelope before, believe it or not, and I thought this one she showed me was unique. Oh vell. We're not printing our inner envelopes & never thought of tissue paper so we're not using that, either. It's so much work to make/print/mail invitations ALONE, I feel we deserve a medal for getting it done at all.

Thats the type of invitation we're using too.

Re: Anyone NOT having inner envelopes for their invitations?
I might have missed someone else answering this question, but the tissue goes over the print on the invitation itself. It is more of a traditional thing- it was used to sort of blot the ink if it wasn't 100% dry, so it wouldn't smudge everything else. Now, the printing techniques are so different that you don't really need it, but some people still use it because it is sort of a tradition.
I am using both tissue and inner envelopes, but mainly because they came with the invitations free of charge If I had to pay extra or made them myself with those kits, I would have omitted them. Also, you might get away with just one stamp if you don't use them- that postage adds up!

Mine do not come with the inner envelope- they are the 'french style' invite, so there really is no room for an inner envelope.

mine do not come with inner envelopes or tissue paper. Supposedly it is not as common anymore, especially with higher end invitations.
That is exactly what the lady from Have You Heard told me. I was surprised because mine were higher end (which I didn't know until I already fell in love).
