Anyone NOT ordering toasting flutes/cake cutter?

I'm undecided on this...part of me says it would be really nice, but another part says, its not necessary & a waste of money. What are your thoughts?

I put them both on my registry and we'll see if I get them. If not, I'm sure I will purchase them.

I bought the flutes but I didn't get the cake cutter, it was a waste of money IMHO. I used the ones the hall provided and they were just as good.

We're registered for flutes that are just regular champagne flutes and we probably won't bring to the wedding and no cake cutter set. It's not important to me to have them, so we're not spending the money.

I bought the cake server and flutes from ebay - both for just under $80...my parents still have theirs from their wedding, and I think it's a great sentiment...or 'decoration'....

However, if you don't have them - no one will notice and you can just use the ones the hall provides!!

I put toasting flutes on our registry, so we'll see if anyone gets them for us. However we're not bothering with the cake cutter at all. We'll just use the one the hall provides.

DH and I had no desire to buy or register for these things. A lot of people like them, but IMO they weren't necessary.

I bought the cake server from theknot.com's store for about $10 and the flutes from the Lenox outlet. Happy compromise and we still had 'special' things!

I'm still undecided. Half of me thinks its a waste but then the sentimental side of me kicks in. Oh decisions decisions...

Didn't do it. I used the ones that the hall provided. Funny, but I didn't even think about it.

We received gorgeous champagne flutes as an e-gift, so we will be using them the day of. As for cake cutter - nope!

I'm a pretty sentimental person, but for me, the toasting flutes and cake cutter just aren't necessary. I've never really noticed them at weddings and I think I have enough other sentimental things to hold me over!

I registered for the Lenox crystal toasting flutes and someone bought them. As for the cake cutter - my hall said they will provide that for me since I had no wish to have one of my own.

It's pretty much a waste of money in my opinion - it feels to me like yet another one of those things that the wedding industry makes you feel like you just HAVE to spend money on, but there is really no reason for them. There are other things that will serve as keepsakes from your wedding, so these to me seem unnecessary.

And hey, if you really need keepsake glasses, you could always slip the ones you use from the hall into your purse at the end of the night
just kidding. maybe.

I AM NOT!!!

I agree with the past few posters...

The hall provides you with flutes, knives, etc - I see it as a total and complete waste of money, just my opinion...

Registering for it and seeing if you get it as a shower gift is a good idea...

But a knive is a knive and doesn't look that different in a picture...
