Anyone not using a card box for gifts?

Just wondering how one collects gifts at the wedding if you are not using a card box. I dont really like the idea of it, but I dont want to carry around a white satin gift bag either. Any thoughts?

We're not doing a card box. We are going to put all of the envelopes in one of those bags. My aunt is going to hold it for us.

we had the satin bag, although we didn't really use it. we were able to attend our cocktail hour, and just about everyone gave us our gift then, so DH was stuck carrying them all around the CH. after dinner we went around to all the tables w/ the bag, and we only received two more cards.

My boss was telling me a story that she went to this wedding and she was really turned off by the card box.She thought it was very rude so ever since then I decided against it.

i am not having one- i will have one of those satin bags to keep them in and give it to my mom to hold- I think the card box is a great thing- i am such a nervous nelly though i rather have it more discreetly (that is just me) it does look nice displayed though

I guess I will have to get one of those satin bags then, and designate my dad to be the keeper of it. That would be a good job for him that day.

it'll be a game-time decision....

I was planning on making a card box, but now I don't know...

I've always like the look of card boxes, but now that I'm thinking about it, I think I like the satin bag idea better because someone can always be holding it (to avoid possible theft)...

However I don't think I will walk around holding it, I think it would look like I'm taking a collection.. so if people happen to hand me cards as I'm walking around saying hello, I'll probably periodically just go give them to the person holding the bag...

I noticed at a few weddings that the groom just stuffs the envelopes in his tux jacket- I think that is something that I don't want to do so I'm doing a money bag since I don't want to do a gift/card box.

A person will be desingnated to hold onto it.

You can ask a family member, close friend, or anyone you really trust to be the attendant for the gifts. The can carry a sachel that will hold all the cards and any large boxes/gifts can be stored in the bridal suite by the bridal attendant of the RH.

FH and I are asking his cousin, since she's really responsible and we would like to have her be included in some form in the wedding.

Yeh, I'm against the notion of the card box at a wedding too....use a bag and have a relative hold it. If you are having a big wedding, buy two bags and just change off when the first is filled.

No-I hear what you are saying. Thats my concern too. I think I'll just get the bag and have my dad hold it.

i've been to weddings with and without them. my grandma is very against it and thinks that it's tacky and begging for gifts, but ..... most people do give gifts! i think i will do one, i like the ones that look like stacked gift boxes.

I'm not doing one either. I wasn't sure what to use since I don't really like the purse idea either. I guess FH and I will just walk around juggling envelopes.
