Anyone not using a card box for gifts?

Original post by roan126

Just wondering how one collects gifts at the wedding if you are not using a card box. I dont really like the idea of it, but I dont want to carry around a white satin gift bag either. Any thoughts?

I am planning to DIY one with my grandma

I'm just hoping people don't find it obnoxious/tacky and I hope our OOT guests don't get confused and stack their gifts (if they bring wrapped gifts) next to it on the table.

At my engagement party, I used a fancy-looking gift bag (the kind you'd buy from the dollar store to put a gift in) to put envelopes in...as the guests left and said goodbye to me and FH, I would put the envelope in the bag and give them their favor.

For the wedding, I'd like to do something fancier than a gift bag (although it works perfectly fine), and I was thinking of trying to make a photo cube and keeping it near our table until it's goodbye time and we give out the favors

Im doing one of those satin gift bags, so its not so overt and obvious as a box, but ive seen some pretty card boxes

My boss was telling me a story that she went to this wedding and she was really turned off by the card box.She thought it was very rude so ever since then I decided against it.

Was she upset by how it looked physically or just the fact that they had a box to put cards in????
