I don't think you can do this with Ortho lo... I used to do it with Ortho Novum 7/7/7 - I'm going to get my . the day I leave for my honeymoon!! such is the life of a woman :(

I would definately ask your dr - but I know that this pill gave me so many problems I had to get off of it.

I am on it...I am not sure about pushing up your period, but you can 'skip it'...Its safe if you only do it every once in awhile...I did it last summer when I was going on vacation.

instead of starting the sugar pills..when you would normally have your period....go right into your new pack.

you may have a little spotting but not much...

HI..I was on it but I got off it...Do not continue taking them to skip it. I tried it once and I ended up having my period for 3 weeks! I was so out of whack. There are some birth controls you can do that with but since ortho lo has 3 different levels (white, light blue and dk blue) of hormones-it is no good! HTH :)

yup i've done it b4...i usually always ask my doctor first. but you have to skip the last week and start a new pack for each week you want to move up...therefore you would need to do this twice and it would take two months. but consult your doctor first.

def speaking to your doctor is probably best..i only did it twice but didn't have a problem....but some people may react differently...

def. speak w/ your doctor about it -- I just remember asking my last dr. and she said i coudln't do it with this one --- some BC you can do it with , but doing it with Ortho lo will mess up your cycle.

yea I agree- talk to your doctor- I got insanely sick- ortho lo has different hormone levels that are stronger some weeks than others (first couple)- I ended up going on something completely different, so I could skip during the honeymoon- you have enough time to do that too, if you talk to your ob/gyn

I also do this when I go on vacation or something.... I tend to have spotting throughout the month... but SO WORTH it if you really dont want to have your period a particular week.

i was on this kind of bc for 4 years and NEVER had a problem-but then again it does depend on how your body reacts to it. I know you can skip a period by skipping the sugar pills and taking the next pack right away. I don'tknow if maybe you could do that a month or two before the wedding/honeymoon so when you'd be on the schedule you like

Re: anyone on ortho tricyclen lo???

SOooooo with all this talk about skipping.... I pulled out the calander and realized that the week of my wedding, I will have my period!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! So, I pulled out my Ortho Tricyclen Lo and just took 2 white pills (bc this was supposed to be my period week).... I just hope I didnt take my white pills too late.... I had to double up. I know my wedding isnt for a while, but I'd rather get the spotting and body being out of whack now.... rather than later (closer to the wedding).

Re: anyone on ortho tricyclen lo???

I did some research, and it seems to be that many girls are not able to skip their period... it may put it off for a week, but for a lot of the girls- their period came during the end of starting the new white pack. If you are doing this because of your HM further down the road.... just make sure that you are aware that many girls experience spotting for a month!!! I am willing to deal with the spotting for a month, so that I can get married and go on my honeymoon with NO PERIOD.

I am on ortho tricyclen lo and I have skipped my period by taking skipping the the placebo pills and starting the next pack right away. I have spoken to my Dr and he was ok with this as long as the following month I got my period.

This is just me. I can't speak for others.

I dealt with this a ton in my OB/GYN and endo rotations. You technically shouldn't skip your placebos with the your particular BC because you don't have a steady dose everyday. If you are overweight, take any drugs that interfer with your BC or even with the long plane trip, you can wind up with a baby or a clot! But if you are normal weight, healthy, it should be ok. And its almost always ok with other forms of birth control that have steady amounts if hormone throughout the month.

Def ask your particular OB/GYN though. I personally love the NUVA Ring because you can skip your period as needed. FM me if you guys have any qs.
