Anyone opting NOT TO HAVE A TRAIN on their dress?

Hi girls,

I went yesterday to visit my dress for the first time. It's beautiful, but I'm having major work done to it. Originally I was going to have them rework the train (the underlay would be taken out) & have only a lace train. I'm a no fuss kind of gal & now I'm wondering if I should not have a train at all (the seamstress said she can do either). What do you think?

Re: Anyone opting NOT TO HAVE A TRAIN on their dress?

I thought about nixing the train, but I decided to keep it in and just bustle it up during the reception. It's the only time in my life I will ever have the opportunity to wear a floor-length dress with a train. The beading on mine is really pretty so I want to take advantage and keep the designer's vision intact.

It's completely your personal preference, though, of course! If you love the dress and don't feel the train adds anything or would be happier without it, by all means get out the scissors!

My train is removable so I can have it for the ceremony but don't have to drag the extra weight of it around during the rest of my day.

I say keep the train! it really is the only time youll be a bride and you should just keep it. just do a bussle for the reception or have a detachable one.

Same here. I want it for the chuch, but I didn't want it or a bustle for the rest of the day.

No big train for me--- it is just a little extra lace sweeping the floor.

Re: Anyone opting NOT TO HAVE A TRAIN on their dress?

i didn't have a train on my dress. Personally, it's just not my style. I just don't like how they look especially when they get buttoned up into the dress. So i opted to have one without. The only thing is that even though my dress didn't have a train, it was still kind of long in the back (longer than the front at least) so at the reception I kept having people step on it (especially DH!!! lol). By the end of the night there were footprints all over the bottom But I still don't regret it - that's why we wash things. lol. And it really didn't even annoy me at all.

I had somebody come to me in the middle of the night saying that she was going to pin it up for me so that it wouldn't get stepped on anymore and i was like 'No Way!!' She was not about to touch my dress at all. haha. I absolutely loved it - it looked gorgeous the way it was. DH just needed to stop following so close

Re: Anyone opting NOT TO HAVE A TRAIN on their dress?

i say def keep the train! you can bustle it and you won't even know its there after the ceremony. when a dress is made with a train, the train is usually one of the characteristics of the dress that make it beautiful!
