Anyone order BM dresses from David's Bridal?? (long)

I went yesterday with 5 out of 6 of my BM to look for BM dresses at David's Bridal, because of their separates (all my BM's are different sizes and heights, so I thought letting them choose the top of their choice would alleviate some problems). Long story short, they all agreed on a great celadon strapless dress, which will run about $165, a little more expensive than the $99-$130 they thought at first). Everyone was willing and happy, so they recorded all our info, but we didn't place the order yet. Here's the story now: some of my BM's are concerned because David's requires full payment before they'll order the dresses. The dresses only take 6 weeks to come in, and we have plenty of time (my wedding is in May), but knowing how often dresses are discontinued, I'd rather have them all order them by the end of this month, and some BM's want to wait a little longer. Question: Has anyone ordered from David's for BM dresses, and how was their service? Did you have them do the alterations (I've heard very mixed reviews on that one)? Should I wait a few months or order them by the end of this month? Any one ever have a problem with trying to order a dress that has been discontinued? Any info or experience with BM dresses you can offer may make me feel a little more at ease. Thanks!!

Anyone order BM dresses from David`s Bridal?? (long)

I had 9 girls in my wedding party of all different shapes & sizes. I ordered from David's the middle of December for my May wedding, I was told 6-8 weeks, It took 17 weeks and countless phone calls to both the Carle Place location as well as the corporate office. I do not recommend David's Bridal to anyone. The only reason why I finally did get my dresses for the girls is b/c I went there and refused to leave without them. I hope this helps you

I also had a bad experience with David's when I was in a friends wedding. Service was terrible.

David's Bridal is HATEFUL! I only bought my dress there b/c they are the only store that carried it. And don't even think about letting those butchers do alterations!! The Carle Place staff was horribly mean to me & my ladies. We wanted separates too, but could not begin to deal with their lousy attitude. Waters & Waters does really nice separates. They ended up going with a gorgeous 2 piece Bill Levkoff. It is so much nicer than the junk we looked at in David's and was less expensive too.

Anyone order BM dresses from David`s Bridal?? (long)

I got my wedding gown and brides maid dresses there. I had some problems with them when it came to sizes. The brides maid dress i wanted was in their catalog, but not in the store yet, so they had my BMs try on a similar style to get their sizes. Turns out they were all to big. However, a note on the service, they let me return them all and order new ones. I`m still waiting on one (the last one I returned). They can tell you if the style is new or not. I don`t think you`ll have a problem with it becoming discontinued. They should also be able to tell you if the sizes you need are in stock in their warehouse or in another location and if they can order it in for you. They did this for me with my dresses. I am not having them do the alterations, one cause i`ve also heard bad things, and two they aren`t local for any of my BMs, nor for me.

Got mine and BM dresses there!

We had no problems with the service. Even with sending one dress to California! Only my sisters got their alterations there. Two did not need alterations and one got it done in CA. I had my dress altered there as well. It is a bit hectic (if you can, go during the day), but in the end it turned out fine. Make your 'wedding date' a month earlier for the purpose of alterations.
