i have a 2003. no major problems except that when i drive over 55 everytime i step on the gas pedal a whiny sound is made. i pointed it out to the service tech and he said there is nothing he can do about it, its some kind of problem with the select-trac or something like that. now that the wedding is over i am going to investigate this further.

My DH has a 2000. it's about time to get a new car and I want another jeep. We beat the cr@p out of it when doing MAJOR demotition in our house and it kept going- no problems. Just doesnt look as pretty anymore.
I want another jeep but DH wants a TOUGHER 4X4

We have an older Grand Cherokee. (I consider myself a Jeep Geek)
Couple of things about the new for '05 Grand Cherokee (WK). It now has an independent front suspension. The previous generations (ZJ and WJ) had solid front suspensions.
Do you plan on taking your Jeep offroad at all? That might be a deciding factor.
Independent front suspension (or IFS for short) is great for on-road ride. However it is very limiting for offroad articulation. (I guess Jeep figures that most people buy Grand Cherokees to drive to the mall and grocery store and redesigned the suspension to cater to them.)
Solid Front Axles (or SFA) have excellent articulation as well as strength offroad, but sacrifice a little comfort on the road over bumps.
So basically, if you are looking for a tough vehicle....the only 'real' tough Jeep left is the Wrangler (and it is going to be redesigned for '06...and it's not looking good).
On the other hand...the new Jeep Grand Cherokee is an incredible comfortable, great riding, quality vehicle. Just don't expect a rock-crawler.

FMIL & FBIL both have 2004 jeep grand cherokees and they love them. Smooth ride, fast pick up, good size. I don;t really know much about cars like DMAg, but they like it, I like it when I drive and that's all I can tell you

I had to wait for my e-ring because I wanted the Jeep first!! DH got me a 2002 Grand Cherokee last November (2003) and I love love love it. I am sure you will love yours!! Congrats!! (Oh, he wound up getting me the ring for Valentines Day anyway!!)

I have one and I like it. My only complaint is it is a GAS GUZZLER! then again most SUV's are.

Best of luck with it. My mom has a 2004 JGC and she loves it. She got the 4.0 and I have to say it's possibly the best 6 cyl. engine out there.

We bought 2 of the 2004's in August and LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!! We bought the Laredo edition, BUT, upgraded to the V8 with moon roof, tushy warmers, leather, etc.......Then a friend of ours put in the factory auto-starters for a great price. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend!!!!! GREAT cars!!!
PS> If you drive like a maniac (as I do--it's the 911 in me---V8 is the only way to go)--the pickup on the highway from 65-80 is 1000x better than the V6 was. Bad gas mileage---but knew that from the start.
