Re: ANYONE OWN A SATURN????
lets just put it this way.... I drive a 93 Saturn and she's probably good for another 5 years.. KNOCK ON WOOD! I haven't had any major problems with her, I definitely recommend Saturns!
Good luck!

Yep I havea 2000 SL1---no probs (knock on wood) with it...it's a little low to the ground but I am used to it now. I love the people at Saturn so much that I bring it there to get serviced....
once right after we got engaged I needed some extra work on it that would cost a lot of money---I started hysterically crying and saying how I was getting married and they were soooo sweet trying to help me out, delay what I could, etc, etc.

Re: ANYONE OWN A SATURN????
I had a '99 SC2 - drove it cross country to Cali and back - put about 40,000 in 2 years on it -never had any problems other than normal wear and tear.

Was it a mechanical problem that needed the expensive repairs?

I drive a 99 Saturn SC-1. The only problem I have had is with the sunroof. I took it to saturn a couple of times and they just masked the problem till the warranty was up. All they had to do was put a longer drain hose for the sunroof and the problem would have been solved. So I love my car but I hate the Saturn dealer . My car has 101,000 miles and is still running strong.

I have a 1999 Saturn SC1 and have had problems since I bought it. Transmission went, sunroof leaks, everything breaks, etc. They're cheap cars and everything is like plastic on the inside, so things break easily. I'll be getting a more reliable car next time around

It was stuff with the different belts and a crack in one of the mirrors (normal wear and tear type things after 5 years).

Ditto, but mine was an SL1
ETA- I got a leak in the rear main valve, after driving cross country, and neglecting it's upkeep.

I got a leak in my rear, while he was driving me because I had been neglected.
...and that, ladies, is what happens when you post on NWR.

My mom has a 96. This too is her main problem...the sunroof leaks and so the whole 'headliner' is stained/ruined and she can really only open the driver's window as well as the others tend to break so after a couple years of replacing them, she rigged them so they stayup and no one touches them. She apparently would need a whole new sunroof to fix hers [it won't close either if you open it].

Re: ANYONE OWN A SATURN????
I have a '94...about 170k miles and still going strong! I have put some $$ into it, but the car is 13 years old..I bought it used in 2000
ETA: I don't really understand how this works, but supposedly Saturn cars are very safe b/c whetaver they are made out of is flexible, so if you are in an accident, nothing major happens to you or the car
