yup, my mom is making them...

but i chose a very plain style that was okayed by all the BMs and is flattering for all shapes and sizes.

I wouldnt do that... for a wedding I went to recently the bride was in a rush ( planned the whole wedding in 8 months) so she saw a picture on the website, liked it, showed it to the girls, they liked it and she ordered it.... she had a good mix of girls from size 2 -20
and they ALL looked HUGE!! they were so miserable that day!! even the size 2 bridesmaid looked plus sized!!! by the time they realized it, it was too late b/c they didnt try it on until the dresses came in a month before the wedding

Yup I did. They all live out of town so they picked something they liked out of a bunch of pics I gave them and now they are ordering them

I am nervous to do this but I might have no choice - no one lives near each other and now I am at the point where I AM in a rush. I have tried the dress on though......I think it looks fine but I am not the one that has to wear it! Plus I am very VERY small chested so I have no experience with tyring to decide if something will look good or fit right on big-breasted girls (I have 3 of them in my party).

I did. I live in LA and my BMs are all over, so I tried on the dress and the one I liked the best I made the girls order. Luckily, no one complained

Could you get them at some place like Macy's, where you could return? They actually have a nice selection.

Macy's bridesmaid dresses

I bought mine without them trying it, but knowing sizes. I had to return one, but the one that fit they all loved (it has a corset-type back, so they can tighten or loosen it a bit).

yes, i knew in my heart which dress i wanted (so did my MOH and only one of my BMs-they both tried it on several weeks before the others did!)
but we let the others believe they had some choice.
