We have started booking ours, sort of. We were hoping to get a free week at a timeshare through my dad but it doesn't seem to be working.

We got our flights about 2 months ago. I def don't think its too early on flights. The prices will go up and there are limited flights to hawaii. Booking now will give you first choice in time of flight, layover time, etc.

what islands are you going to?

looking to stay in oahu(waikiki beach) for two nights, kaui for 5 nights, and maui for 5 nights. it's so hard to choose what part of the island to stay in, what type of accomodations, and flights. there's just so many decisions.

We booked our honeymoon in Hawaii through expedia, believe it or not! You can't go thru the site if you want mulitple stops on your trip, you have to call, but we spoke to someone who was so helpful and so knowledgable. Plus, the prices were great! It can't hurt to give them a call and see if you can book now. Good luck!

it's never to early. actually a travel agent is cheaper. we went to one, got all the info then I found it all myself through expedia.com it was more money that way then through the travel agent.

flights go up so it's better to book in advance. a few months ago tix to cali on Jet blue were only 119. I waited 2 months and they went up to 179. I still wish I bought them early. would have been nice to save money.

Hello I just wanted to let you know that I live in HI (I am originally from LI). I live on Kauai, so if you have any questions throughout your planning feel free to contact me! As far as the tix go, I would suggest waiting another month or two because they should go down. We bought tix last october to go home for Christmas and they were only $625/ea but right now they are about $800. Good luck!

I have ways to go but I am going to plan a hawaiian honeymoon and I can't wait. I would be so eager to book it as well if my wedding was 8 months away. Good Luck!

aw, thanks. i'm excited to visit kauai. which part of the island do you recommend staying. there's so many pros and cons for all places. we're looking at the coconut coast. it seems to be almost in the middle of everything. and how is it like without air conditioning in may? a lot of condos don't offer air conditioning and it has me a little worried because FH complains of being hot all the time. thanks for your help!

Yes, air conditioning is pretty uncommon here! At night it will usually cool down, and the trade winds will bring a nice breeze, but that is a tough call if he is always hot...I definitely recommend staying on the east side of the island (anywhere from Kapaa to Lihue) because it is central and will only take you about 1 1/2 hrs to get all the way to North Shore or South Shore.

I booked my honeymoon to Hawaii on my own. I booked in December for a July honeymoon. The flights kept going up in price---so the earlier you book them, the better.
I booked everything on my own--directly (with my AAA discount) & it was MUCH less expensive than a travel agent (and I went to 4 different ones!!) or any website online.
Good luck

I loved Kauai--- my favorite of the islands I visited. And I stayed at the Marriott in Lihue--perfect location & very nice hotel. Highly recommend it

I think it's good to start looking early. You may find really good deals.

We are getting married in Oahu, Hawaii and then heading to Maui and the big island for the honeymoon. FH is from Hawaii we go every summer to see his family. Last summer we only paid $450 for a ticket and we waited. Sometimes the prices actually go down; its nuts I know!

I went to Kauai two summers ago. I loved the north shore. We stayed in Princeville and it was so nice. Problem was that it was a long drive places. Its a one lane road and it gets super busy and traffic builds up like crazy. I would recommend getting airconditioning. My FH always says oh the trade winds they cool things down. Let me say I was hot in Kauai and I got really sick with asthma from the lack of air. It was not good at all. Definitely find a place with airconditioning. I will never go without it again

Good luck!

We are also going to Kuai, Maui and Oahu. In Oahu we are staying at the Marriott on Wakiki Beach, and then we are staying at the Hyatts in Maui and Kuai.
We booked through a travel agent, found it easier and cheaper that way since they can get deals others cant.
In Kuai we planned on going on going ziplining at the Princeville Ranch, they have a zip n dip that my firends all raved about (where you go swimming in a waterfall after the ziplining). we also want to do a boat ride up the coast (Im not into the helicopter rides).
Happy Planning!

Re: anyone planning a hawaiian honeymoon?

I ssecond Princeville Ranch Adventures, they do great ziplining tours! Waimea Canyon is a nice drive. Kayaking the Wailua River is fun...check out 'the Kauai Guidebook' at a bookstore, they go over a lot of things you can do here. napali coast boat tours are popular, but I only recommend doing them in summer months because in winter there is high surf here. Smith's Tropical Luau is good too. As far as hotels, some centrally located ones are the Marriott in Lihue, Waipouli Beach Resort, Aloha Beach Resort, and Resort Quest.
