Anyone putting cameras on the table?

I've heard mixed reviews about these instant cameras. Some say it's a waste b/c most of the guests forget to take photos. Some say it's great b/c you get lots of funny candid shots. I'm really leaning towards getting them, but I need some reassurance.

Also do you let the guests take home cameras or do you collect all and develop them yourself?

Re: Anyone putting cameras on the table?

I am doing cameras on every other table to cute down on cost. Some people say you don't get very many good pictures, but I would like to give it a shot.
You take them home and develop them.

Re: Anyone putting cameras on the table?

I'm getting them. There is a bride from the Knot who did an actual test and discovered that the Kodak and the Fuji work the best, and the 'wedding' ones really don't give good quality pictures. The guests need to use the flash regardless of the camera. One bride put a sticker on the camera itself reminding guests to use the flash and said all her pics came out pretty good.

I will be asking my DOC to collect them.

Re: Anyone putting cameras on the table?

i want to use them... i saw a 'wedding' one that had a little poem on it about how to use it and to leave them on the tables at the end of the night... does anyone know what i'm talking about? if the kodak or fuji's work better, i'd like to get those and then attach the poem myself.
i doubt all the cameras or film will get used and maybe a little money will be wasted, but it's just one day and it's worth a shot, in my opinion.

Re: Anyone putting cameras on the table?

We did one camera per table and out of 16 tables we had 13 cameras fully used and the other 3 were half used.

I made a little note to go with each one explaining that we weould be developing them, then someone from the hall collected them at the end of the night for us. The next day my Father in Law took them to the 1 hour developement, the pics were soo great, we got some really awesome shots, and what I love was that it gave me some pictures to tie me over till I get my proofs.

BTW- we got the 3 packs from BJs no thte 'wedding camera'

Ladies thank you for all the good advice. I am convinced. I'll head over to Costco and do my research on kodak and fuji camera's now.

I bought the 'Wedding' ones from a vendor on e-bay. Each one came with a note and wrapped. I am sure they are not the top quality, but even if I get a few good candid shots, I will be happy

Re: Anyone putting cameras on the table?

I thought it was great because I remember looking at my cousin's and all the tables took the same pics! This way you get more because you tell them exactly which pics to take, and its more fun and challenging for the guests!

Re: Anyone putting cameras on the table?

The table cameras were sooo worth it for us. Although your photog gets shots of guests, many shots are of you, your family and the BP. Our table cameras have shots of people that aren't in any proof.

Many of the complaints of the cameras are that guests forget to use the flash. We stuck a sticker on each camera, right under the view finder, that reminded guests to turn flash on. And they remembered! Yes, some of the cameras weren't totally used, so we brought them as extras on the honeymoon.

There was a study done by a bride around the beginning of this year, maybe the end of last year, that she got every disposable camera and tried them all. She liked that ones with the automatic flash, but they can get pricy. She suggested the celebration pack by Fuji. They are sold in a 4-pack. That's what we bought at Walmart and are happy with the results! Try to do a search on that thread.
