Went to BBB today and scanned one (5pc) Lenox dining set. The girls helping us kindly informed us that a 5pc set is for ONE person?!? and they recommend us ordering for 12 settings. I have been living with FH for over 1yr (dating 3) and as long as I have known him I have never had the need for using this. At $120 a person (setting) is it worth it? I mean it will probably go in storage for many months...

Re: anyone putting fine china on registry?
Personally I did want fine china for the holidays and special occasion. I choose Noritake Crestwood Platinum and the price was decent. I only registerd for 8 setting. Pick what you like and according to your family size.

Re: anyone putting fine china on registry?
I won't be registering for another year, but FH and I have already discussed china.
Although I think it is beautiful and would love to have it - we decided not to register for it. We would like to buy a house after the wedding and we need so many other things.

Re: anyone putting fine china on registry?
We did register for it because I'm hoping we will host holiday dinners once we own a house. This is a few years off but at that point I'm sure we won't want to shell out the $ ourselves to have nice dinnerware. We registered for a very simple pattern by Waterford which is under $100 per setting but we jazzed it up with accent plates by Kate Spade.

We registered for Lenox china at BBB. We registered for 12 sets. For our engagement party, FMIL and FFIL bought us four sets of china and four soup bowls. We have eight more sets to go.

I registered for the same, it was a 50 piece set, 8 6 piece place settings plus 2 serving dishes for $299. I'm hoping FH's family buys it either for the shower that none of them feel the need to attend (they're OOT so I can't get too mad) or the wedding (since they're OOT I anticipate gifts).

Re: anyone putting fine china on registry?
U just answered ur own question! Hahaha if u say ur not gonna use it, then most likely it won't even make it out of the boxes and will be a waste of $ and could have gone toward other, everyday things.
I registered for regular everyday plates along w corresponding bowls, and salad plates. FH and I have been living in our house for 4yrs now and I have never had the need for china. We entertain once in a blue and host thanksgiving every year, but its just not me.

Yes, definitely put it on. I did and got all 12 settings at my shower. Think about it....will you ever go out and purchase fine china yourself?? It's one of those things you should have.

I most def am. I love china and hope to have family gatherings for holidays so i think we would need it.
ITA. Also, I feel like if I didn't get it for my wedding, I'd never have occasion to get it in the future.

Re: anyone putting fine china on registry?
WoW! I think the responses were like 50/50 now I wish I would have done a poll.
I'm going to have to pass on the china. I really do want it but I don't need it. It's going to sit in storage forever. It would be more practical to get a setting we can use everyday and that is dishwasher safe.(I would not trust fine china in FIL rickety dishwasher) Thanks for all the input

Re: anyone putting fine china on registry?
we didnt for a few reasons. 1. we didnt have room to store it 2. for the amount of money it was, we knew we woudlnt use it that often 3. i am the only daughter so i will get my moms if need it 4. we needed/wanted other things more on our registry and would rather people have spent their money on those items
its really a personal choice depending on your needs
