My FH does not want to register for the engagement party, because it is a casual bbq in the backyard. I would just like to be safe & not have to return gifts I don't want, or things I already have.
Has anyone registered without FH? I was thinking of going with my mother and just put a few things on a registry just in case people ask. I don't want gifts, nor am I expecting them for the engagement. We have been living together for 2 1/2 years.

I did, its no big deal. I went with my cousin. I just couldnt see dicsussing which corningware set we should get with FH

I registered with my Mom!!! He couldn't be bothered, but I wanted to make sure I didn't have to return a million gifts and it was a good thing that I did!!! You should register just incase!

Yup, I left him home. I took a friend with me. We also lived together 2 years before the engagement so we had most of the basics. I just registered for nicer things that needed to be replaced and somethings that I would never buy myself. He really didnt care what was on there.

FH registered with me at BBB, but that was enough for him. I did Fortunoff's on my own. I didn't mind either, I got everything I like to decorate our new home. He'll eventually regret not coming.

I registered for my china and glasses, by myself, and we went together to JCPenney's but then I added a bunch more on the computer.

I highly suggest registering without your FH. I attempted to register at C&B with him and it was the worst experience ever! We argued about everything... FH repeated comment 'do we really need X? i already have X from Wal-Mart/the dollar store/etc.' argh..... afterwards, I went online and re-did the registry. save yourself the frustration and go with someone who likes to shop!

we registered together - i put it simply - its his stuff too and he opted to come...sure, we compromised on some thigns (and he didn't love stanidng in the fine china for 2 hours..or flatwatre, etc..) but we picked it togetherl...

My husband came with me the first time only then it was all about me. Sometimes its better to leave them at home.

We had a casual backyard BBQ for ours and didn't register. Most people just gave money...no presents to return... But then again, we don't live together so anything we got we needed!
