Re: Anyone's Fiance not helping out?

I'm so sorry to hear that. Ken has been pretty good through the whole planning process. Sometimes he is not actually SMILING when he is doing things, and sometimes he does annoy me but overall I am so happy with the amount that he has helped me. Let your FH how important it is for you to plan your special day together. Tug at his heart a little:) PS....Welcome!!!

Re: Anyone's Fiance not helping out?

My Fi isn't the greatest about going to place or helping. He just tell me that 'it's your wedding' I'm sure your FH is going to get into it. It just takes a while! Mine takes a little nudging but I want him to be just as happy with all the decisions.

Re: Anyone's Fiance not helping out?

My FH really annoys me whenever we have to go and do wedding stuff. He doesn't want to be bothered but he always has an opinion about everything. Good thing we're practically done with all the major stuff! I also knew better to get it all done before football season!!

Re: Anyone's Fiance not helping out?

When we first started all this he wasnt involved at all. Now that we are on a roll doing things, he's a better, but I know deep down inside he doesnt want to do it, so I try to do what I can w/ him.

I am not really getting help from anyone but my FH! I am so thankful that he is there to help. However, everyone else is annoying me! LOL

Re: Anyone's Fiance not helping out?

My FH has left most of it up to me - He tells me I can do anything I want as long as it makes me happy. But if I tell him we need to go somewhere he is right there when I need him to be. I don't drive so he HAS to go!

Re: Anyone's Fiance not helping out?

My FI isn't helping me out too much either. I usually do the prep work and then he'll go with me to see what vendors I like. I think he does that just to make sure i stay in budget lol.

Re: Anyone's Fiance not helping out?

Darren helps out a little. However, I don't ask him to help out. As I am about to do whatever it is I want to do, I double check with him and he is usually fine. Sometimes I get fustrated that he does not volunteer to help out more and then I remember how I get also fustrated when he does want to help and he gets in the way or we fight over things. You just can't win

Re: Anyone's Fiance not helping out?

Len was very 'helpful' in the beginning stages. That actually used to stress me out, belive it or not, b/c I had already figured everything (the biggies) out on my own, so now, he had to see everything, want to be inlcuded in decision making, and all I wanted to do was take control, and do it my way. I had to fight on a couple of things, and also compromise.

It's getting better for me now, after 5 months of non-stop wedding planning, I think he is getting tired of it, and is relaxing a bit. He's getting a little lazy, so he's letting me do more things with my sisters. He just wants to be included in booking the HM (a drama itself) and in Limos. I'm forcing him to take part of the registry, b/c I don't want to hear 'oh i wanted this or that'
After that, all the cutesy little things we have left is all on me. YAY!!!!!!

Edit to say : Oh, I also think that football season is playing a big part of his 'relaxing'

Re: Anyone's Fiance not helping out?

It depends what I'm working on - the reception hall, DJ, honeymoon and limo search Bob has heavily involved in. He wanted absolutely no part of the flower process and was so-so with the photographer. All in all I would say he's average.

Re: Anyone's Fiance not helping out?

I feel better, LOL! My FH has basically assigned every major task to me, but when I show up with my options, he has a very strong opinion about EVERYTHING...and inevitably we will disagree on something...if I say I want this fotog, he'll say he wants that one. If I say we got a great deal on flowers he says 'THought we weren't doing centerpieces?' ACK! He basically expects to me to do all the legwork and report back to His Majesty for his choices/approval. I, however, have won just about every major battle. I have told him that transportation is his gig, period. Limos, shuttle buses, whatever....I am *not* dealing with it.

Re: Anyone's Fiance not helping out?

I have been lucky that he has been involved with everything. (Except the photographer, he left that entirely up to me.) I want to make sure it is really 'our' day and not him just showing up in a tux that I picked out. You are not only planning a wedding but also planning your life....

Re: Anyone's Fiance not helping out?

I never really expected him to help, because I'm really anal about the way I want things.

He made the decisions on things he knew more about (like the photography) but for the most part it's been all me and I like it that way. He had some strong opinions on some things (his attire, bridal party intros,) and those things I also let him have a say in, but I still made all the arrangements with all our vendors.
Personally? I LOVE that he stays out of the way and lets me do what I want.
When I need an opinion, I ask (even though I know that I'll end up doing what I wanted anyhow) and when he has to bring me places or tag along he doesn't complain. And when I need him to write a check, he does so with a smile. It's perfect.

Re: Anyone's Fiance not helping out?

My FH is helpful when asked, but I too am very controlling and have strong opinions about what I want, whereas he is more laid back He comes along for the ride basically. After 4 hours last weekend looking at invitations in the same store, I think he might need a break for awhile. I did send him to the Post Office on his own last week to get stamps for the STDs and he came home with these huge stamps of a smiling Olympic athlete- I almost killed him. We got a good laugh out of it... and so will our friends.

Re: Anyone's Fiance not helping out?

jlf41 - That's too funny!!! My FH would have done the same thing . .and then would say 'What's wrong with them, there stamps and they'll get there just the same'

Michael SAYS he wants to be involve but when it comes down to it he doesn't care. . .He just hates for me to have all the control so he thinks if he says he wants to know about everything he has some control. . .but I know better
I only get upset when it hinders me from booking things and moving on. . .But he wants 'whatever makes me happy' transltion : 'You're on your own babe!'

good luck!!
