Hey ladies......I'm just starting the process and figure the best place to start is with the reception hall. Rather then go to dozens of places does anyone have some do not miss places that I should see? Thanks for your help!

Re: Anyone suggest good reception halls
Congratulations! The best thing to do at this early stage is to figure out what type of venue you want to look at,,,ie: modern, on the water, country, quaint, etc.... once you narrow that down, the ladies on here will give you some great ideas! Also, location...Suffolk/Nassau.... good luck!!

Re: Anyone suggest good reception halls
Thank you so much.....I definitely want to keep it on Long Island and am open to either Nassau or Suffolk. FH and I have spoken about this even before we were engaged and we both love the water but know water places tend to cost more.

Great! I would recommend these to start...
Chateau La Mer, Venetian Yacht Club, Riviera, Lands End...I heard great things about the View in Oakdale. I'm sure I'm missing some!

Definitely check out the Riviera in Massapequa and the Old Field Club!
Riviera would be VERY reasonable for January dates if that is really what you are going for, but even for our summer wedding it was a lot less than we were budgeting.
OFC is also gorgeous and a little more expensive, but it is definitely a little different than most halls.

I am not going to waste your time and tell you to go to some because some were completely out of our price range and it was a waste of time. Answer these questions and we will get you a good list for you to call up and go visit. What month do you want to get married in? What price per person are you looking to spend with tax and service included? How many people? Is there some quality it must have? Like one wedding at a time? Near the water? Not near water? Suffolk or Nassau? Any info you could give would surely wean some out and give you a great start.

Re: Anyone suggest good reception halls
In the early stages I think the internet is your best friend, I looked at so many halls online and eliminated alot of choices that way. Also, check out the hall listing on this site, it is a big help as well. I contacted alot of halls via email first to find out their price range. If they'd be way over my budget then I didnt need to waste my time going over for an appt. Good Luck!

Re: Anyone suggest good reception halls
Thanks for the help.....we would really like Aug, Sept or Oct of 2013. We are looking to keep it under $150 with tax and service fees and though we would love 100 people it will probably be 125 - 150. We don't mind more than 1 wedding at a time as long as the place is big enough to give us the attention we need. We would love on the water and don't mind either Suffolk or Nassau as long as its not like Montauk. I hope this helps and thanks for helping us get started!

Re: Anyone suggest good reception halls
When I was first looking for a venue I went to Barnes and Noble and picked up a copy of a magazine called Locations. It gives a great overview of many RH. Not all are in their but it gives you a good idea.
