We're supposed to be booking our honeymoon this weekend, but I'm just not sure who to go to. Does anyone have any good recommendations or experiences to share with travel agents? Thanks!

I went to a liberty travel agent like 2 months ago in Bayshore. The lady I saw was very unhelpful and kept pushing us towards Hawii, which was where we didn’t want to go.
2 nights ago we went back to the same liberty travel and sat down with a different agent, and yes, it was very uncomfortable. We booked a 10 night trip to Aruba and Antigua with ELVA – a very nice, patient, travel agent. We were in there for 2 hours and she really did help!

We used Liberty Travel to book our HM to Greece. The TA knew nothing about the area. Luckily, I had done a lot of research beforehand. We probably could've booked the trip without her. I wouldn't go back again.

I happen to agree. I could have booked my HM without a TA, but I wanted to make sure this trip was going to go well. Itinerary, layover, etc...

We did. The prices was actually a little lower than Expedia! But, she really wasn't super-helpful, we basically researched stuff and she booked. However, they do give you a nice booklet with your tickets, itinerary, etc.
Have you tried putting a post on the Vendors Helping Brides board?

We are using them right now and I think they are awful!! I wished I worked with the women I met over the internet, but I was afraid to send money to someone I never met. Liberty travel is reputable and I don't need to worry about them scamming me, but I am planning the whole trip on my own (and with the help of LIW!!)

We did! We actually had a very good experience. The travel agent we were working with and booked with left the company a few weeks ago (we've been going to him for years) so we were switched to someone else and she is even nicer! Plus, she has been to tahiti and was telling me all about it. They are very reputable, but you have to feel comfortable w/ your travel agent too.

I used them when booking a cruise years ago when I didn't know anything about getting cheap tickets online. They charged me the maximum for a room. They claim that they dont' get a commission off of you but they do by charging you the max. Your better off doing it yourself online. Good luck!

they are over priced and the rooms they give you arent even good! try someone else or use them just for information. go to tripadivsor.com and read reviews on hotels that helps a lot!!! good luck

They are soooooo expensive. It could have to do with tha they are so commerialized.. They have a BIG over head i'm sure, with commercials etc.. Someones gotta pay for that.

We visited Liberty Travel in the West Village yesterday afternoon. And the TA there was great. Very knowledgeable about Hawaii, where we want to go. He didn't push anything on us...just made a few recommendations here and there. We are going to book with them tonight. I went online last night to do a bit of research and really they were giving us better deals then what we could find on our own. I think it just depends on the TA. Ours was a specialist in travel to Tahiti, Hawaii & other Pacific islands. We sat with him for an hour or so.
