as much as i think a planner would help and get me deals on stuff, i feel like we dont need one because we have so much time to plan. but i really think i want a day of coordinator, someone the day of the wedding who will take care of things so i wont be stressed that table 9 is missing a place setting and stuff like that. after looking into it tho, a doc is like, a grand, and a planner is obviously more but they do more work, so i'm not sure. whats everyone else doing? opinions on my situation are greatly appreciated

Re: anyone using a planner or day of coordinator?
I used a planner, she set up all my appointments according to my availibility, when things went wrong she was the one to speak up for me...i didnt have to say a word, we had a few problems before teh wedding with a couple of vendors and she took care of it with one phone call. The day of....she made sure I stuck to my time line, she set up everyone for the processional, etc. after wards she made sure everyone was paying attention to what was supposed to be done etc. over the time of planning she got to know my likes/dislikes, personal querks so when things ran astray the day of (which they did) she took care of the problem and fixed it without me having to know about it. Of course i found out about it later but she took care of everything.
For us-we originally started planning from OOT, I felt to have someone in NY that could take care of things was great. If I didnt hire a planner I would have definitely hired a DOC b/c it was added insurance for me-you never know what will go wrong the day of until it comes-you will never be prepared for it all to happen-that is why I would recommend one if you can afford it. I started freaking out about the limo-3 words from her and I was calm. Anytime I lost my calm she would say something and I was like 'ok' she was my sanity during the insanity.
Ok Im done, if you can afford one I definitely would get one, if for nothing else then piece of mind
