I've never heard of that but maybe you should call the candle or glass company and ask - you could even call a local florist or two to ask the same thing as well.

Yes, a bowl can shatter if it is not heat resistant.
You can get bowls specially for floating candles.
any of the craft stores should have them, as well as Ikea.

im sooooo uspet right now, because i didnt know this.. i already bought all of my bowls from walmart. i think they are for floating candles,, they were in the isle with all the candles.. but i have no idea how i can find out if its heat resistant.. unless i burn the candles in it .

I'm sure that if the bowl was made for floating candles that the manufacturer already made it so that it won't burst. You could just make a sample cp, light it, leave it and see what happens. It will definatly reassure you of its quality. (and i'm sure you can just wash it and use it on your day )

If the bowls were in the candle aisle, then good chances that they were specially made for candles.
I wouldn't worry about that then.
Do a test run, burn some candles in the bowl for 5 to 6 hours, the normal time they would be on.

I'm doing the same thing. We're using floating candles for our cp's also (w/ cala lillies inside too). We're doing ours through the florist-so I'm sure she has the right things to use. But if I were you, I'd type in the name of the product online (google) and see what the company site says. It should say if it's heat resistant and all that. HTH

i wish i can get more info on the bowls.. it only had a little sticker on the bottom and didnt give much info.. im wondering if i should call the walmart headquarters and give them the model # . see if they have information on the product..

the only other option is to test run it like most of you said to do.. ill just let it sit there and see what happens..

Yeah, try calling Walmart. You can give them the code number and even describe the item. And also try going onto the walmart site. Look under candles to see if the ones you bought are listed. You might be able to get more info on them there too.

I'll be using floating candles for the cocktails centerpieces.

I tried one out at home and am so glad that I did that
The bowl broke b/c I filled it with too much water.

So now I learned my lesson.

I suggest you try yours out ahead of time as well and let it burn out completely.
