I went to the fox hollow on friday and they had one in the door way as you walked in and alot of people made comments about how lovely it was but I don't know if I would go to the added expense on top of everything else.

Its probably not good during the CH. CH are really loud from all of the talking and you probably will not hear the harpist.

Saw the harpist at the WOTY and while I thought it was beautiful I don't think it is worth the added expense. It's kind of like a passing thing...'wow...a harpist...where's the food'

I contracted to have my DJ do my CH music. Some sort of Frank Sinatra like music for the old folk who are going to be at the wedding...since they wont be hearing much of it at the reception! lol

I had six pieces play for the cocktail hour (2 vioins, piano, flute, sax, trumpet).

My friend had a guy with a guitar singing love songs... really nice.

I went to one with a harpist that was at the ceremony, then moved to the CH.... honestly, for the ceremony it was nice, because everyone was quiet. However, when the CH arrived, everyone's excitement drowned out the harpist's sound.
IMO, I wouldn't think it's worth it for a CH.

Hi,
We had a harpist for my bat mitzvah in 1990 and we are having one for our wedding. I really like the sound and the look.

Since everything is in on place we are having the following:
Piano player on baby grand for when guests arrive.
Piano player becomes keyboardist for ceremony, and will be accompanied by flautist and harpist.
All three musicians will play during CH.
6 piece band for party (keyboardist plays with band and flautist plays sax for the band).
It was a lot, but the drummer of the band is an old high school friend of my dad's so we were able to get the top of the line band from Steven Scott with a reduced number of people and for about as much as if we were paying for only a five piece band without all the extras for ceremony/CH. If your budget lets you do it, then I say go for it!

When I met with my music company I wanted a harpist and he told me that it would be too loud and no one would beable to hear it, and he told me that it's a little too mellow for a wedding. So instead,I am having a Jazz Trio and a pianist. (?spelling)
