We're using the organist and singer our Church provides. He's performing:

BM procession: Canon in D

Brides Procession: Trumpet Voluntary

Candle Lighting: Irish Wedding Song

COmmunion: The Prayer

Wedding Recession: Wedding March

My church said I can only have catholic music played ... were you given the same guidelines? Just curious.

We were not allowed to use Danny Boy...since it was not a religious song. Our organist was ok....some of his cues were off but he sung beautifully!

Coming from a cantor's point of you (I've sung at lots of weddigns. . . . .)

1. you should meet with your organist a few motnhs before your wedding. they will play some options for you or play for you what you think you want. sometimes the organist will play something you ove but didnt' know the name of it or something you never heard but loved it when he played it. the organist is key person to get some ideas.

2. Catholic churches do ask that you keep the music religious. that said, most organ pieces have no lyrics, so that's a non-issue. for any hymns or other solo pieces with lyrics , the lyrics must mention God, Jesus or Mary. NO secular music (i.e. Celine Dion or something like that) is OUT.

3. I posted a long post about music options awhile back.... it may have been on BHB or '07 brides. Search 'Catholic ceremony Music' that should be a good start ofr you.

4. Go to your public library and take out some classical music CDs or wedding CDs...start listening and that shoudl give you some options of things that you like/don't like

HTH!
