FH and I want to go to look at bands. Someone suggested going here for the selection. Any feedback or other suggestions of place to visit?

FH and I looked through the diamond district before we were engaged, and I just didn't like the whole experience . . . 100 people asked me 'you buying, you selling?' and the few places we looked at the sales people were very pushy and made it impossible to look . . . i dont really like to be bothered though when i shop so i guess i'm a bad judge. i hear you can get good deals though there . . .
my favorite jewelers is actually right near the diamond district but its not really part of it. It's called Kestenbaum and Weisner and its right on 5th. They aren't diamond district cheap though so I'm not sure if youre interested in looking there.

ITA with this.
You know I use to work right next to the diamond district. I used to go there on my lunch hour to check out bands. I have to tell you, it can be a bit overwhelming especially if you don't have someone in particular to go to.

That's where we went for e-ring and bands. We got an EXCELLENT deal on my e-ring. I priced it on BlueNile and paid 40% of what we would've paid. You can also shop around and they usually beat or match the price of a previous quote. It definitely wasn't overwhelming esp since we knew exactly what we wanted.
After the prices we got, I wouldn't order anything online or go anywhere else.

Its absolutley worth it to go there. FH got my engagement ring there, and he got so much more for his money. If he went to a big chain, the markup is so much higher and he probably wouldnt have been able to get such a nice ring for me. When I went with him to get my ring sized, I wasnt annoyed at all. I had a pleasant experience. We went during the week in the afternoon, though... that could have made a difference.

FH got my engagement ring from a friend of the family's store in the diamond district. FH showed him a picture of what I wanted from blue nile and the guy had it made for him 4 days later - at about 45% less than what BN was charging. We are definitely going back to him for our wedding bands.

I had the same situation! FH has a family friend in the diamond district who made my e-ring based on pics FH showed him - it was appraised at 40% higher than what FH paid! If you want his info FM me he is really great!

We have a guy in diamond district that FH's family has been going to for years; HOWEVER, he told us to go to Tiffany's and try on bands there to see what I like. Then we will go to him and he'll make it at a fraction of the cost.
I'd say go to Tiffany's to look...

FH got my e-ring from R & R jewelers in the diamond district (26 West 47th Street) and he had such a great experience that he wanted to go back there to get our wedding bands. When FH went to get my e-ring a lot of other places were very shady and had people calling u in from the street. R & R is not like that at all and they are all so friendly. My e-ring appraised for much more than FH paid and when he had it insured the woman told him he got a great deal b/c the cut was perfect.
We ended up going there in November and they were ready in a week. Robert and Rami are so great to work with and work with your budget. I am going back next week to see how they came out as my band was custom made and I could not get back to the city beforehand. I will definitely go back to them in the future.

FH got my ring at Golda' in the diamond district. I know lots of people that have gone there. They are wonderful and very easy to work with.

My friend's DH got her rings at Golda and they were awesome. FH actually went there, but couldn't find it ( ) so he wound up at Avi Jewelers in the Diamond District, and my ring is phenomenal, appraised for like double what he paid. When he proposed, the ring was too small and we brought it right back and they resized it in 20 min right in front of us!
We are def going back there for my ring!!!!

I'm 100% FOR the diamond district. FH and I got ours from a guy named Abraham at Fairfield jewelers. He was the nicest most patient guy we'd met. We designed my ering as well as FHs wedding band with hm. He actually told us to go with a SMALLER diamond than we originally planned bc it would sit better in my setting (in my album if you want to see) so that shows he wasn't just trying to make $ but to help us get the right thing. I'm looking to have him make FHs wedding gift and necklaces for my mother and sister for my gifts to them as well.

Our rings (my ering and both our wedding bands) are from the diamond district. Our jeweler is named John, with Diamond Club International. He is so great, and very sweet. He is my FB friend if you want to check it out. FM if you want info.
