I figured since so many of us are trying to get in shape we would be our own best motivators. Maybe in the evening meet in a designated area and do the boardwalk or a local park? Who's in?

I live in Bellport, in the Alexan deveopment and I started walking last week. It takes me about an 1 hours to walk 3/4 of the development, it is all flat you can just walk and walk (900 homes)....Let me know if you are interested. I did 1 hour yesterday a.m., and 1 hour last night and rode my bike.

I am always at the holtsville ecology site, one time around is 1.25 miles and make sure I go 3 times around.

I will...., I get home from the city at 6:15 and can be ready at 6:30....and our pool is open until 8pm once it gets really warm to use it, there is a lap pool too....we can bike as well..our own 'buff bride' workouts...(Ughh..)

I'd have to meet you at 7:00-7:30ish. I also work in the city and take the 5:22 home. I don't usually get home until 7 o'clock. Then I guess I'd have to change. ARGHH!! I hate getting home so late. It kills my nights.
When should we do this?

I use to take the 5:22, but my office moved and now I get to take the 4:51...7:30 is fine w/ me. I tried walking at lunch today, but got sidetracked into old navy..I want to try for 2 hours a day...what train in the a.m. do you take?

that is a great idea. I can't join in, b/c I'm not on LI, but I just started walking at lunch with a coworker. It makes it is easier, b/c I too don't get home till 7. but I just wanted to say, YAY for walking buddies!

Good for all of you!! I'm in brooklyn and have a horrible schedule that I could never count on. I guess I will stick to my pedometer and keep trying to hit my 10,000 steps a day.

we should try weekend walks as well. In Nassau & Suffolk.. nothing formal that requires a RSVP. Just set a date (sat or sun) and a time if you make it that weekend great, if not, maybe we'd catch you another weekend.
God knows I have nothing to do on Saturdays but watch Jim sleep
