Fair warning- I have yet to crack a smile this morning, and since I tend to wear my emotions on my sleeve, you should know that my anger will seep into my posts. There's nothing I can do about it. Normally, I would lock myself in my room with a bag of chips and cry into a bucket of fried chicken, but alas, these options are not open to me, and I am finding I have no other coping mechanism.
I'm considering assaulting the homeless, or kicking pigeons to make myself feel better.
**NOTE: I would never assault the homeless or pigeons.
Last night, FH comes to pick me up from work, which he does most days. It's the nicest thing, and he does it because he knows I DESPISE the bus like no other.
Everything was fine in the car. We had a great ride home.
So then we get home, and I don't know if I've told you guys, but we got new phones the other day. He had been all excited to get a new phone, so on Saturday, I suggested we go, and got all swept up and said, Hell, let's just buy them! He was so happy.
PS- I hate this phone. Maybe it's just that I hate change, or that I refuse to read the instructions, because instructions are for losers. But this 'touch screen' business is making me insane. I'm serious, I don't know about blood pressure and all that, but I can tell you that my systolic and diastolic were having a cage match, and I was losing it.
Now, admittedly, I have complained about this phone from the beginning, and i'm sure it's a drag to listen to. But it was expensive, and if you pay for something, shouldn't you get what you pay for?
I think this is our problem. We really differ in this way. We got our invitations the other day, and there was a strange ridge on the top, like a roller mark on the top of the invitation. We have to mount the invites on a black backing, so to me, it was very obvious. I know, you could barely see it, but when it was mounted on the black backing, it was very obvious, at least to me.
I said I was going to call the company and demand new ones. He couldn't understand that- 'what's the big deal?' You can't even SEE it! No one's going to notice!'
But I do. The fact is, if I pay good money that I work hard for, (okay, work for), shouldn't it be perfect? Shouldn't it be just what I paid for?
This aggravated him for some reason. I called up the invitation company, told them the problem, and they said 'no problem, we'll send out a new run'. PS- I complained Monday. We got the new and perfect invites last night.
Why WOULDN'T you do that? What extra effort did it take? Did we make anyone feel bad? I don't think so.
It's the same in a restaurant. He'll get the wrong thing, and just eat it. This drives me to a distraction I can't even explain to you. Or they'll seat us next to the kitchen door, and I'll ask them to move us, and he's mortified. Why would you go out, spend all that money, and be annoyed that you're listening to all that kitchen noise, and getting run past every two seconds? What's it to them to move your seat?
Finally with this phone. So yesterday I'm trying to get the f'ing 'widgets', or icons on the side, to move down. They won't move, and I started getting immediately aggravated (I should mention, in the interest of full disclosure, that I don't have a temper, I have a rip cord, and the slightest thing will make me insane. I'm really trying to work on this, and I'm very aware of it). He starts immediately getting upset, and saying I'm doing it wrong, and tries to do it himself. Lo and behold, they won't move for him either. So he starts moving all these icons on the screen. And I say,
Wait, shouldn't it work perfectly without you moving all those things around? Why do we have to move things to get it to work when it works fine on yours without movingthings?
He says, well, it works now, so what's the problem?
Okay, maybe it's me. But if I buy something, especially something expensive and important like a phone, I expect it to be perfect. Am I wrong? Am I too obsessed with everything being just the way I want it? And when it doesn't go that way, I lose it?
So he goes out to tutor. When he comes back, he's super cold, and barely talking to me. I ask him what's wrong, and I get the one answer that is officially designated by whatever board designates these things to completely send me into the stratosphere of rage:
'Nothing'.
I think this is the most distrespectful answer of all time. There is CLEARLY something wrong. Are you incapable of articulating it to me, or unwilling?
So I sat there and felt unwelcome in my own home. I don't even want to go home tonight, because I hate 'talking', you know, 'talking stuff out'. But I DO it ad nauseum, because if you don't, then stuff builds up, and nothing can ever work.
At least that's what I think.
Now, in his defense, he is the nicest guy on the planet. he's stuck with me through times that must have been very difficult for him to do so. I love him completely.
But I don't feel good today.
