I wouldn't have been allowed to go but I know a lot of people who were. Cancun was normally the trip my HS friends took as graduation.

We were in the Bahamas last year in May, we met a group of girls with 3 parental chaperones on the plane to Bahamas, turned out they were staying at the same hotel. It was their graduation present, about 8 of them.

Even WITH the parents there, they girls were at the bars everynight, drunk as could be. They were hooking up wth the hotel staff, leaving each other behind, different guys. Every night there was a different battle w/these young, nice girls.

A week later Natalie disappeared, we still all say that it just as well could've been one of those girls.

I would never have gotten away with that even with my parents there

maybe I am just a cynical New Yorker- but the world is a dangerous place- behaving like that is inviting trouble IMO

My heart goes out to Natalies family. In my heart I think that those boys know what happened to her and it is truly sad.

I saw pieces of it. I can just imagine how her parents felt when they heard she was dancing on the bar and calling him after she was drinking all day. My family would have been mortified. I can't believe her friends left her alone, but we have to remember they were in H.S. College makes us less nieve.
I think all parents should look at this and not let their H.S. children go away without supervision. I believe it was not a school sponsored trip, but teachers volunteered to go with them. This trip was after graduation right? In the school district I work in many senoirs go on non-sponsored trips that are planned by the parents to the Bahmas, Cancun and stuff. Are they crazy or just don't want to realize what a unlimited Visa card and no parents lead to?

IF anything I hope that the PrimeTime interview helped parents to realize what goes on in these places....I still cannot believe they haven't found her

I can honestly say that losing a child, and having no closure as to what happened to him/her, has got to be one of the worst things to go through....her poor Mother - I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

I agree- It nearly killed my Grandma to lose my Mom-

and if anything good can come out of this Ihope parents think twice before they pay for a trip like this

I honestly think that something twisted happened that might incriminate these guys but in fact they might be innocent...I dont know what to think about this...one thing I think is silly is the idea of boycotting tourism in Aruba...I mean come on give me a break...somebody said that to me when I told them that I was going to Aruba for our HM and we got into a heated discussion....

Yeah Boycott Aruba.... PLEASE!!! Aruba is the safest island in the carribean.

No, not boycott it bc its unsafe, but bc they're claiming that gov't officials are not doing enough about the girl's disappearance and that it could be related to the fact that one of the boys' father is a gov't official...either way its crazy...

It was not a vast island conspiracy that caused Natalee's disapperance. In watching all the news from there, it's apparent to me that the people of Aruba are good people. IF IF IF the Van Der Sloot kid, or, another person eventually is found to have harmed Miss Holloway, let justice be done, to the max. In the meanwhile, let's not condemn the entire population... That is ny opinion is just plain rediculous!!

I know that it may seem like Im being bias because I am chosing Aruba as my honeymoon spot, but look at it from this standpoint:
There are virtually few places in the world where we are entirely safe from the evils that perpetuate society anywhere. aruba being no different. in america we lock doors, teach our children not to trust strangers, not to test the waters too freely, refrain from subjecting ourselves to dangers. we read american papers and see violence and benevolence and nothing prevents our own behaviors here on our own soil. terrible what has happened to natalie, nightmarish, we may never know. the same thing could occur here in our backyards, in fact, it has... as far as corruption in aruba, naturally ... everywhere.

No place is 100 % safe, we know this. However, Aruba does have some strange laws, I know this from when my mother was robbed in a well-known and respected Arubian hotel. They said since the woman was not caught in the act they could not do anything and they tried to claim my uncle robbed her. UM OK! This is just one example...I am sure there are hundreds out there.

Everyone loves to point fingers at others...we have to let the professionals take lead here and figure out what has happened...as in Janie's 'quoted' statement...if they find that the boy really did contribute to her disappearance, then he'll be punished...what ever happened to innocent until proven guilty??? We love to judge people thats what it is...
