what does everyone think about this case? who is lying....ita a rape case. teenage boy sentenced to 10 years in jail even after jury found him not guilty, under some other georgia law. very interesting case...

i don't know why but i got a feeling the girl was lying...almost like she had sex with him and then was ashamed.....i don't know, i had a weird feeling....

I'm not trying to sound like I watch Oprah every day (though it seems like it!), but I think this was an old episode. I saw a more recent one of him on Oprah where he'd gotten out of jail and was home with his family. I think the girl's lawyer's comment that the punishment fit the crime was ridiculous. 10 years for something the jury found was not rape? Umm, okay. Didn't Joel Steinberg serve about 15 years for killing his adoptive daughter?

this was a repeat and tomorrow they show him when he gets out.If he raped her or not jury found him not guilty and ten years is abit much,as you said Joel Steinberg served 15 for murder!!!!!!!!!

I won't be home to see it on TV 55 tonight, but I remember the commercials this time & last time. Why was he sentanced to jail if he was found NOT guilty?

sorry i didnt realize it was a repeat.. i also thought the girl was lying. just listening to her and some of the background facts made me beleive she was lying... i cant wait to see tomorrow...

I didn't watch the whole thing, but I think what happened was the jury found that it wasn't rape, in that it wasn't forcible, but it was still statutory rape. For misdemeanor statutory rape, the kid should've gotten less than a year in jail. The way the guy's attorney phrased it, there was a law in Georgia, the purpose of which was to protect children from adult sexual predators but the prosecutor decided to apply it to this case and he was able to meet each element of the offense. To me it sounded like this was some heightened form of statutory rape.
