Anyone who had ever sought out a particular dress...

Anyone who had ever sought out a particular dress...

There is a dress I can't stop thinking about. I've only seen it online, but I'm afraid that if I don't ever get to try it on, I'll regret it. I've called the 11 stores in NY that carry the line and no one has this dress. I'm going to start looking out of state, but do I have any other options??

I did the same thing. I was in love with this one dress I found online and couldn't get it out of my head. I felt that if I didn't at least try it on I would always be wondering if it was 'the dress'. I called every store on LI that carried the line and nobody had it. I called their signature stores in CT, NJ and even PA and they didn't even have it, one said they just sold the sample like the week prior. I tried calling the designers customer service and the first time I called they told me that the nearest store to me that had it was up past Albany. Still on a hunt here, I called back and spoke to someone else who I think did a more detailed search for me and found a small place in Queens that had it. After all my hard work I liked the dress, everyone else hated it. :( So, if you feel you'll always be wondering 'what if...' try calling their customer service and seeing if they know which stores have that dress.

HTH and GL!

You can ask a store to bring it in from the designer. You may have to pay a fee for that though.

I had my store bring in a dress. It wasn't for me, I asked to bring in a second, they said if I did, I'd have to pay for that to be brought in as the first dress is the only one that would be free. If I bought a dress from them though, then the fee that I paid for the second dress would be subtracted from my dress price purchased.

I did the same thing but fortunately for me the last place I called in NY had the dress. I tried it on and it looked nice but wasn't the one. I had brought a few other pictures with me that day just in case and I did end up finding the one. But before I tried it on all I thought about all day everyday was that one dress. I was even all set to buy another dress but couldn't stop thinking about the one no one had. I am glad I called everywhere and eventually found it otherwise I would still be saying what 'IF' today. Best of luck to you!

I had a dress in my head that I guess didnt't exist because I looked everywhere. So I found one that was as close as possible and am changing it into my dream dress. If you know it could be the one I would try something with a similiar shape and style and see how that goes first before going nuts to try and find it

That's the thing. It was so unique, I couldn't find anything like it. Anyway, since I made this post, I made 8 more phone calls and found the dress an hour and a half away in Trenton, nj!!! I have an appt to try it on next Sunday.

I'm SO excited.

Now I'm just trying to think of what could possibly cause me to not like it on myself. Like, after all this, how could It NOT be the one??

Sure :). My FH doesn't even know what LiW is, lol. It's 'Siobhan' by David Tutera for Mon Cheri. I'd upload a pic, but I'm on my phone.

I have no real affinity for David Tutera and I stumbled on a pic of the dress by accident, but I literally think about it all the time. I hope it looks good on me!

Oooh that's beautiful.
I guess I kind of went backwards. I knew where I was shopping and looked at their dresses first. If I didn't LOVE them I wouldn't have went. They also had a style that I was set on but when I tried it on I didn't love it! I ended up loving one that was on my top list from that particular designer. If you don't try it on you will definitely wonder how it would have been. I think if you find a place that carries that line, maybe they can get it in?

Have you contacted the designer directly? That may help.

Actually, I did the same thing as you. I checked what lines Village Bridal carried and checked each designer's website. I saw this dress and sought it out. I found it at the place in Trenton, which is an hour and half away, but I'll try on some other dresses while I'm there too, to make it worthwhile.

Here's a picture (Now that I'm home):

I did the same thing! I found a dress I loves and NO ONE carried it on LI or in NYC. I couldnt get it out of my head and ended up asking Bayshore Bridal Suite if they could order it for me and they did! my first fitting is this wednesday!
