Anyone's budget completely out the window??

Original post by Mmnnng

We planned on trying to keep it under $40,000 since we are paying ourselves, and when we got an amazing deal at the RH we thought we'd have no problem....but...

I keep seeing crap I have to have for my wedding that wasn't going to reallly be a wedding but more like a huge party but is now a full blown affair...lol!

I am definetly at least 10 grand over budget and not done yet...

Anyone else writing checks like a mad woman?? My FH thinks I am crazy but he has had no part in the planning so it makes me want to show him what kind of an awesom affair I can throw...LOL! I know he'll love it, but am I going overboard?

$50,000 for a wedding at Timber Point? Maybe you could take a step back--unless you guys are made of money, you may regret this hugely after the wedding. It all sounds wonderful before the wedding, you want everything and anything, but is it all really necessary? I was really happy with my budget wedding (also at Timber Point) and now, after the wedding, I'm even more happy that we didn't spend that much for our amazing, inexpensive (for Long Island) day.

Oh its so not Timber Point that the majority of the money is going to! I got a great deal there and added on just about every option possible and am still happy with my price for that...its all the other crap!

The DJ w/ custom lighting & live musicians
My 4 part favors, ect...

I know i won't regret it, FH does well so the $$ is really the issue, its the fact that I've lost my mind ordering things I never thought I wanted! I thought I wanted a low key wedding, hence Timber Point, and that changed as soon as I saw all the crap out there you can get! LOL!

our problem is that we orginally budgeted too much so now we're spending too much. If we could go back in time we set a much lower budget. Oh well!

When you look at the budget, do you count wedding rings, your dress and accessories, and the honeymoon?

YES, our wedding went completely out the window! We went over the budget by at least 15g more than expected. But it's only one day in our lives, I never had a 'Sweet 16' or Quinceanero...so I figured, I'll spend that luxury now. Besides, it was a first marriage for both of us, and we wanted something memorable and fun.

i am not sure I really ever set a an overall budget I tried to budget each item, I think I did pretty well, but my father probably doesn't think so!
