My FH said the other day he really wants to walk down the aisle with his parents or mom. We're Catholic & to be honest I've never seen it done before.
I'm curious how it would work (when--I wouldn't want him seeing me in the back of the church). Also, what would happen with our best man?
Has anyone done this?
Thanks.

Re: Anyone's FH walking down the aisle too?
I went to a wedding (catholic) a couple of weeks ago and the groom walked down the aisle with his parents. He had to stand in the back of the church in front of the wall so he didn't see the bride come in (before they walked down). I think that maybe the bestmen walked down the aisle too, but I could be wrong.

FH and I are both Jewish. Traditionally in a Jewish Ceremony the Groom walks down the aisle with his parents.

Hi
I have been to a few weddings where they did that. I am sure that they could keep you in a seperate room until your hubby-to-be reaches the altar. In the weddings that i attended the groom and the bride walked down the aisle with both parents...The church can probably accomodate that request.
as for the best man, i am not sure.

Re: Anyone's FH walking down the aisle too?
In jewish weddings the groom walks down the asile with both of his parents. We are jewish and this is our processional order:
Rabbi and Cantor Grandma 1 with my brothers (grandma sits down) Grandma 2 with my brothers grandma sits down) Groomsmen walk individually Bestman Groom and his parents Braidesmaids walk individually Bride and my parents
halfway down the asile, my DF will walk back and get me, my parents will walk up the asile and then DF and I will walk down the asile together.
For the recessional, DH and I will walk first, followed by my parents, his parents, the bestman and one BM arm in arm, 2 of the 3 groomsmen will each walk a bridesmaid and the last groomsman will be there if my 2 grandmas need help walking back up the asile.
Note: in a jewish wedding the parents, bridesmaids, groomsmen, officiants and the bride and groom all stand under the chuppah on the bimah (alter)

Re: Anyone's FH walking down the aisle too?
We're getting married outside the hall (weather permitting) so FH has to get down there somehow. I don't want him to go unnoticed, he's important too. He's going to walk down with his bro (BM) and aunt to light the Memory Candle for their mom. When that's done, and after his aunt sits, will be the cue for the music to start the processional.

DH was actually supposed to walk down the aisle with his two brothers, but instead he walked alone and his brothers were behind him. I've seen it done with parents as well. I think it's nice

and since i have a huge bridal party - i'm expecting that he does it right before i get out of the limo OR I'll hang out outside till he goes down. it might be a too bit cold for that though...

I went to a wedding a few weeks ago (catholic) and the groom waited halfway down the isle for his parents and then walked down with them, I dont think FH will be doing this, but it was nice...

Re: Anyone's FH walking down the aisle too?
Yes! My mom actually read about it in the LI Catholic and suggested it to me (we had a Catholic ceremony). DH and his parents and our priest/music person loved the idea.
How it worked was, my grandparents (only ones there) walked down the aisle, then my mom who was escorted by her godson/my cousin, and then DH with his parents, and then BMs....
THe only tricky part about this was making sure he didn't see me. Luckily our church had a side part (from where the old church was) and I was able to enter there so he didn't see me. (what you could do is wait to enter the church until he goes down the aisle maybe???). His best man hung out with him in back of church and then entered from the side with the other GMs before the processional started. It all worked out really well!

Yep DH walked down the aisle with his parents. The best man came down the aisle first, then him with his parents. We took pics before the ceremony so we saw each other.

My DH walked sown the aisle with his son. The priest walked down first, then DH and his son, then the bridal party went.

Cool. Maybe I'll stay in the limo or someplace out of his view. I guess I could have the bm walk before him or else with my MOH.

Us too. But can either of you two ladies please tell me where the flower girls and ring bearers fit in in a JEWISH ceremony? I have two flower girls who are walking with their brothers as escorts and one ringbearer who is walking alone. Does a flower girl come after BM's but BEFORE MOH's? When does the ring bearer go?
