They hurt me for the first week, then went away, and now a month later they hurt again! What's up?

Are you running/doing aerobics, or do you mean lifting weights when you say workout?

Either way, you should go to an orthopedist.

I ignored my knee for a long time, and it would come and go (I'm a runner)

Well, I found out that my knee cap is grinding away. There are things that can be done, as well as taking glucosamine, which builds up the cartilege that I'm loosing. If I did this when it first started, I would've saved myself a lot of unnecessary damage and pain.

Don't ignore any type of pain, have it checked out. Especially when it comes to the knees, and if it's nothing, then at least you'll have piece of mind.

Also, are you in a really good pair of shoes...do you have a high arch, or a collapsed arch, wide foot, or narrow foot. If you need a good pair of sneakers or help with choosing that perfect shoe, try Second Wind in Setuaket. THey're so knowledgable. Hope this helps.

I will try second wind! It's right by my house. Thanks for the info. I'm working out at curves. I don't know if you're familiar with them, but you do aerobic excercise inbetween teh machienes. I have been running in place fast and hard inbetween. Perhaps that;s why. They don't bother me unless I bend down- getting up is when they hurt. Did that happen to you also?

YEs, and You Need To Get Them CHecked OUT, it could be Condromalasia (I'm totally spelling it wrong, aka: runners knee) that's what I have, and millions of people have it.

Don't mess around with it, you body is telling you something.

Keep me posted!
