I cant not believe how $$$ anything w/ the word wedding is.............. Flowers, DJ, Photographers, etc.....Honestly its ridiculous. I mean am I the only one who feels this way especially when the economy is so bad.
I think its crazy how expensive everything is but I look at it as a once in a lifetime thing so I guess in a way it's worth it? I dunno I'm trying to justify all this money i'm spending LOL
Limos is what I thought was the most ridiculously overpriced, it's crazy

Yep, weddings sure are a fortune. I sat with FH and priced out our wedding. My jaw dropped. I did not realize the cost of everything!

TOTALLY UNDERSTAND! FH and I are paying for our wedding ourselves too. When i first started looking around i broke down and cried hysterically bcuz i thought there is NO WAY we are going to be able to do this! You just have to really budget yourself and cut out as much of the extra expenses as you can. I bring my lunch to work everyday and you wont believe how much just that alone is saving me with the prices of food in the city. I hvnt bought new clothes in FOREVER, no more shoes, no more vacations, etc.
You just have to create a budget that will include all the things you want for the wedding and do your best to stick to it.
I am paying for everything myself and the cost is ridiculous. I am saving money by not having limos, a non-Saturday wedding in the winter, and therefore having a lower minimum (which is right at the number of guests we wanted to invite anyway). No band, less people means less tables and therefore less centerpieces. But I find that other people are all too willing to help me spend MY money, then get annoyed when I complain about it! Why do I need to have fancy centerpieces? Of course if you are not paying for it you think it is necessary, but I am sure the photos will look just as nice and people will have just as good a time if the flowers are a little shorter! And do we really need to pay for a MC? 70 people can figure out how to dance by themselves, and I think it will be rather obvious when the bride and groom enter cause I will be wearing the wedding dress!

FH and I are also paying for everything ourselves. I am not sure how we will manage. We have been saving as much as we can and really searching for ways to save. We have to remember that this is our wedding and we do not need to live up to anyone else's standards. There was just recently a thread about ways to save and we all posted ideas. Those threads are great. I have to start paying back school loans soon and I also have to go back to school for my Master's. Once those realities hit me in the face, I might have a little breakdown.
I think you just have to be prepared to go over your budget because no matter how much you think something is going to cost, it always costs more. Also, you have to decide what is important to you and what you really want to splurge on. I have decided that I am going to try and stay calm because after one day of pricing RH's I was in a state of panic. My FH said, you need to relax or you are never going to make it to the wedding day. Try not to freak out, in the end I am sure no matter how much we all spend we are going to have an amazing day!
