Original post by cw0904

you don't want done at your own? I am looking for stuff like this to bring up during my final. I have these so far.

-Appetizer served as guests are arriving into the reception room not already there.
-Champagne handed out after the guests are in the room not already there.
-MARTINIS-the REAL ones!! But I know as far as liquor my place is great on doing the real deal.
-beer-in bottles or glass? Not sure on this yet.

I recently went to a wedding that had smoke on the dance floor when they entered the room and during their first dance.

Waitstaff that does not know what they are doing or are teenagers- it is hard to avoid that. No liquor shots, no beer bottles, and food being spilled on the guests becuase the waitstaff took too much on in there hands when clearing off the table.

I don't want any holes in the tableclothes or stains. I used to work in a catering hall when I was in high school (back when they allowed people to smoke) and most of the linens were really shabby looking. Believe it or not a lot of halls have not replaced those old tableclothes yet.

Some of this stuff unfortunately we can't avoid. Our guests will be our guests.
But at least most we can notify our vendors, mainly the reception hall.
Thanks everyone.

This is guest directed but I was at a wedding where the best man was giving his speech and called the groom a prIck. The context was funny, but I thought it was inappropriate to call him that in front of his entire family and his brand new inlaws. It was something I asked DH to mention to his best men when they did their speech.

Yeah, I'd say cursing during the best man speech is a big NO NO!!

When it's dessert time...I want the cake served before the coffee. They usually serve coffee...and then 1/2 hour later your cake shows up...and your coffee is either cold..or you drank it! Your cake won't get cold waiting for your coffee...but your coffee gets cold waiting for your cake.

I second that! That is a HUGE pet peeve of mine!

One wedding I went to the wait staff left the trays that they scrape the plates onto next to the guests table all night without even covering it. I already told my place that I didnt want to see that, they assured me they dont do that.
