Anything wrong with paying final vendor payments early??

For the most part- everything is due the day before the wedding.. thought it would be easier to get it out of the way-- does it matter??

I was thinking about that also - I don't see why it would be a problem with vendors like photo/video & reception site (maybe some others). Maybe flowers and limos can be paid the day of, since they are delivering something 'tangible'?

ETA: One exception is the photo video actually - final payment (last part of it at least) is usually paid on delivery of proofs....

the only vendors that are due the day of are Limo and then the brunch the day after-- so I am thinking to just get it out of the way- with the exception of those.

I don't see anything wrong with paying them off before.

But, just in case you may njot want to pay limo off before. Only because what happens if your driver is an hour late or something, wouldnt you like to have money outstanding to hold against them?

Right, that's what I originally meant too - then I thought of that last payment thing.

Anyway, I don't think there's anything wrong with getting them out of the way - less to worry about.

ETA: I would personally just pay the limos the day of....for some reason they are the only ones that really stick out to me to wait on....

I would wait if things are due one the day of - it gives the vendor more incentive to show up and do what ever service you have contracted them for.

It makes sense to me to get it out of the way. One less thing to worry about on that day. But I have a feeling FH will not want to do that. He doesn't trust anyone. ugh!!

I'm not paying for ANYTHING in full until i get the finished product. My photograher isn't getting the final payment until I pick up my album, DJ is getting paid during the reception, Limo getting paid onc they show up. NO ONE us getting paid in full for services not yet rendered. If they have all of your $$ you have no leverage

I completely agree-
friend who got married had paid off vendors and ...florist in particular and then the florist made mistakes with the flowers--- had no leverage because $$$ was paid

I wanted to get everything out of the way as well...BUT you have a great point..maybe i should rethink this!

I'm paying off everything at least one month before the wedding except for the Photo/Video. I just don't want to have any additional stress the month of the wedding, especially with $$.

i agree. i was going to try and pay everything but the limos but now you are really making me think. although that really ***** for vendors to take advantage. Because who wants to walk around with all that money on them. My cousin had her purse stolen out of her limo while she was getting married at the church...thank god her FFIL took the money before because he said that they had enough on there mind and he didn't want them to worry about the money. BUT think about if she did have it in there. Granted she shouldn't have left it in the limo, but i guess she wasn't thinking, which i am sure most of us will not be doing fully that day.

Someone told me I shouldn't pay them in advance for the reason above. I didn't listen and paid the DJ a week before. When he was late, DH freaked because he thought the guy took the money and ran. Of course he didn't, he was just lost and everything was wonderful. But maybe for your piece of mind, it would be better to wait.

We paid our limo in advance, only because I do business with him all the time and I knew he would show up.

Day of. That's why there is a bridal suite with a lock on it. You could also ask the BM to lock it in their safe until you are ready to pay the vendors. You can also out as much as you can on credit cards ahead, this way you have recourse if you are not happy.

I paid ALL my vendors already...I have a contract with the time they're supposed to show up at and the amount of time I am hiring them for, if they don't comply I can always sue. Hopefully, I picked good vendors and I won't have to. I see nothing wrong with paying them if you can...the earlier the better, one less thing to worry about.

I did not pay anything in full before the full services were rendered. The only exception to this was the site which I paid 5 days before because I had too. I just think that you leave yourself open to people not performing up to par.

I guess my situation is different then...all of my vendors (with the exception of photo and video who are due after the wedding when I pick up my work) required payment a week before the wedding...because I know I love to spend money that I don't have (from my accunt) I just paid them now...better t pay them than spend it...

But I see the point about underperforming...I pray that all will be OK at my wedding.
