Did the OP ever say she was at work anyway?

No but my post was simply a warning to a lot of people on here that DO run IM at work. I know my company is not the only one that takes stuff like this seriously.

In fact... 90% of companies make you sign some sort of computer policy disclosure that you don't even realize you are signing that lists the rules liks this.

God help the person... at ANY company... that launches a virus while running a program at the job that they shouldnt be running in the first place that wipes out the company data.

Think the CEO is going to be so forgiving when he loses a couple million in business thanks to something like this? I think not. If its a private company the owner would have his head. If it was a public one... the shareholders would have him canned after they see their stocks drop significantly after news of lost business.

OMG do you even know anything about this virus.
You are preaching on 'could be's'
this is a harmless little crap virus.
Please, PLEASE get off your soapbox.

Make sure you thank your help desk person, since you had no idea how to fix it even though its suuucchhh a problem in your company that you had to send an email out about it.
If its that big of a problem, shouldn't YOU have been aware of the fix?

Stupid huh...good one, well good one back in first grade.

Yea, OK. my company was shut down for a day and a half the week following the blackout when that big virus (Melissa?) went around. I work for a multi-billion dollar company and I work for the CEO - no ones heads rolled. It's the cost of doing business and our CIO and Helpdesk analysts know this is a part of the business. Get over yourself.

It totally baffles me how people can actually click on stuff like this. 'There are pictures of you on the internet... CLICK HERE'.

I mean COME ON.

But anyways if people want to bomb out their home PCs thats fine. But its the people with the home PCs that are sending these virus IMs to people at my job.

I have at least 10-15 people at my job that got this and its causing quite the headache to my help desk team.

I sent out an email to the entire company yesterday saying if anyone is dumb enough to click this and they become infected... we will revoke their computer privledges. Which pretty much means we will lock them out of their PC so they wont be able to run any personal software, install anything, or customize their computer in any such way. They pretty much get the tools they need to do their job... and thats it.

We aren't kidding around anymore.

It's privilege by the way

Wow, there is no reason to be so mean and call people stupid.
My company sent out an email last week just warning us not to open anything sent from an IM, that there was an AOL IM virus going around. Nothing rude or calling people dumb. Just politely asking us not to open anything. Thats the way to warn people, not to start name calling!!
