Re: Apartment hunting
did you try craigslist?
I just moved from my dad's house into my FH's studio apt and we have a 96 lbs dog... I feel your pain.

Re: Apartment hunting
$1000 including all ..... I wish ! We pay $13** plus elec., cable, internet, phone) You'll find the perfect place - checkout apartments in houses. Usually include all and a lot less expensive.

Thanks though. I see so many in Suffolk on CL. We both work in Nassau so it would be too far.

Re: Apartment hunting
try the pennysaver- I have seen a bunch of apts. in there that are in houses.
I do check them thanks. I even took the flyers from CVS but it was all for 'luxury apt. complexes'. Yea no thanks!!

Re: Apartment hunting
did you try Long Beach? I think if you don't live on the water it is pretty reasonable, but honestly not trying to sound harsh, unless you are living in a studio I don't think 1K is going to be enough. I lived in an apartment in Levittown for a year 1 bedroom with everything included except electric and it was $1200. I think that is more the range you are going to find....

Re: Apartment hunting
You should extend your search to Western Suffolk, north shore like Huntington... Unfortunately you may wind up with a commute.
Good luck!

Sandy I'm sooo sorry you are having such a difficult time finding a place to live!
I wish I could offer some suggestions but I'm not from LI!
I hope you find something ASAP! Praying for you!

Re: Apartment hunting
I know the fee is annoying, but a realtor might find you something. They get great listings that aren't anywhere else.

Re: Apartment hunting
When DH adn I were looking for a one bedroom last year we saw some things around $1300, but anything under that was like in the basement of someones home which I found really weird.
