Apartment update - the great move is done

Apartment update - the great move is done

Well this weekend all of our friends and some family really chipped in and helped fh and i move into our new apartment. We got about 97% of our stuff moved in then treated everyone to rounds of beers and apps and applebeas and they made us go broke

Last night fh and went to the apartment to start unpacking and moving things around we stayed till 10 p.m. and got pretty much all my stuff done and part of his stuff. By tonight all of our clothing and kitchen will be done so everything other then my computer and turtles will be at the new place. I will not be moving my computer until Sunday and my turtles come with us on Thurs or Friday.

BUT on wedding news - we are completely behind on paying off the wedding BY FAR so we are really screwed so I have to get another job next week and really do it this time and fh has to work from 7-7 everyday now so we can get some money. We finally realized we are poor - we make so little in comparison to most people and just never realized it IoI I thought we were okay until now when talking to people who own houses and boats around us and they are younger then us. Oh well what can we do!

Inviations will be finsihed, envelopes addressed, menus are done, table numbers done, tree tags will be finished and sings all in frames, etc. So at least that crap is done.

So happy you are settling in. It's not cheap feeding people who help you out.

Don't even try to compare yourselves to others...I've been doing it for years and finally finally accepted that so what if I make less than my friends, or that some of them have two houses, and I'm getting married much later in life than most, it doesn't matter. What matters is I'm happy now and this is when things were supposed to happen for me.

Good luck unpacking. I don't envy you, I hate moving.

congrats on the move!

and DO NOT feel poor - people have different priorities. . . FH and I see other people buying houses and living so differently from us and sometimes its not about who has the most money its just who is willing to take the biggest risk

for example, we probably COULD afford a house after the wedding but then we would have to struggle with ridiculously high monthly payments. . . some people think its worth and just jump in. . . FH and I are more like 'what if someone is out of work, what if i have to go on maternity leave' etc. so we need a big buffer before we buy anything

everyone is different - its so hard not to compare though!

thanks all! I just wish things were a bit better financially especially with the wedding. The move was a blow to us but we are at least together now and have OUR place. Yea moving really REALLY blows. I am never buying a nicknack or book again.

Congrats on the move and try to enjoy it without getting toooo stressed. I know the whole money game that goes on down here and FH and I definitely can't afford a house. Unfortunately we will more than likely be relocating after the wedding, but it's all a matter of choice. If I could get a second job I would but my schedule doesn't allow it...I know it's rough but realize that you will get through it and you are definitely on the right track

Listen, I'm right there with you. I am so broke and so is he.

Yesterday I was getting my hair cut by a young girl who can't make more money than me, but maybe she does. Her wedding hall alone is $175 a person! I felt like such a cheap-a** when she told me that. Ours is under $90 a person and my dress was under $500.

Enjoy your new home and don't think about negative things. We always compare ourselves to others. I would love to learn to stop that!

Oooh!! Congrats on the move!! Enjoy yourself.

I myself am broke too, I try not to be too down about it but it's hard sometimes. When things are really bad FH and I try to joke and make a game of it like 'How much food can we buy with $20?' It helps us not go insane.
