FH just signed the papers today and we're hoping to move into Artist Lake by July 10. I'm soooo excited to be 10 min from each of my friends. Trying to find and art teaching job out east maybe. Anybody here work for Sag Harbor (I just applied online)? Or if anyone is from the area let me know.

Hmmm.....depends do you have a good relationship with them & trust them enough to let you & your FH start your life without always being involved? Living with them I'm sure won't always be easy. I personally could never do it. I need my space. Good Luck hun

i would never wana live with my inlaws...actually my FIL is nice my Mother in law...stick her nose in everythinggg...and FH is still her 'baby' so as u can see it would be challenging .... so i say CONDO! unless you get along with them very well ...good luck you know your situation best!
It all really depends on the relationship you have with your inlaws. I know for a fact that FH and I would NEVER move in with his parents. Mine we would consider, but definitely not with his parents.

Oh that's easy...condo! Personally, I don't think it matters what your relationship with them is like. To me, it's a privacy issue. Things can be heard through walls and floors very easily, i.e. disagreements, sex, whatever. I think you should go for the condo...plus then you'll have equity in your names.

plus- living with the in-laws is going to get to you after a while

condo condo condo condo condo condo... i cant say it enough. even go rent somewhere else if buying is not a good idea right now. no matter how well u get along now... u want to keep it that way. u want privacy and to be able to fight or laugh as u please without having to tip toe... thats just my opinion

CONDO!!!! I love my In-laws and get along great with them....BUT I had to stay there for 3 weeks til our place was finished and I went out of my mind!!! Privacy is a HUGH thing!!!

i am living with my FIL's in a mother-daughter and it is great saving money, but the privacy issue is HUGE. unfortunately, FH and i are paying for the wedding ourselves so we will have to wait until next year before we start looking for a house. if you can afford it now, go for it!

We found ourselves in a similar situation.
We ended up opting for the apartment because FH's dad and step-mom live in Florida all year round and only come up here for a few weeks during the year, so it won't be a bother. And it would save us SO much money not to have to pay rent. If you do have the money though, I say go for the condo.
Ultimately, it's yours and FH's decision and you should both be happy about it.

Well it depends on your money situation and if you get along with the IN LAWS. Another thing to consider if you have a good relationship with them, are they going to butt into your lives left and right. I mayself would buy the condo and start your lives together living alone.

I consider living with your parents or in-laws an absolute last resort. No matter how good your relationship is with them, living with them is too close for comfort. You and FH need your own space!

We are living in the apartment in my grandparents house after the wedding. My grandmother has made it clear that she will not be butting in- that it's our apartment and that we're newlyweds. She's actually really cool about it all, so I have no qualms of any interference.
If you feel that your in-laws are going to interfere and just be an awkward situation, then I would buy a condo.
