appetizers????

Hi ladies,

I am not much of a chef but my friend is having a New Year's party and I'd like to impress our friends by making some tasty appetizers! Any good ideas that you would be willing to share??? TIA

Re: appetizers????

Something really easy...Brie and Raspberry cups....

Buy Puff Pastry and let it thaw according to package.

Preheat the oven according to package, I think it's 400.

Cut squares or circles out of the puff pastry, and place them in a muffin pan so it forms a cup.

Place the muffin pan in the oven and bake til almost done. The pastry will puff...take out the muffin tin and smooch down the center of your pastry cup so that it is again in the shape of a cup. Place sliced brie cheese in each cup and top with a dollup of raspberry jam. Stick back in the oven until cheese is bubbly and melted.

You can also sprinkle slivered almonds on top.

Everyone always loves my sweet&sour meatballs...

I actually started using ground turkey because it is healthier, but you can use ground beef too. The indreg sounds wierd, but i promise it is SOOO yummy!!

Take out a saucepan and mix one jar of chili sauce and about a half of a big jar (equal amt to chili sauce) of grape jelly in a saucepan... simmer over low to med heat until it is all melted together...

at the same time,

Take ground beef and add some garlic powder and onion powder... mix all together... make mini balls out of them... once the sauce is simmering, you can add them to the sauce...

cover and allow to cook for a while... I never time it exactly...

If you use ground beef, i usually prepared everything the night before and stick it in the frigde, then all the fatty icky stuff hardens, and you can skim it before you re-heat everything...

Once your meatballs are all cooked and hot, take a round hunk of bread, hollow it out, creating a bowl (but not too much), and pour everything inside. Put the inside bread all around the breadbowl because people like to dip that in the sauce as well!!

I hope I explained this ok... these are soo yummy and so easy to make!

Re: appetizers????

I love to make sausage bread

Buy a pizza dough (you can get them from most pizza parlors or the supermarket). Flour and roll out in a circle. Take a few Italian sausages out of their casing (sweet or hot, whichever you prefer) and brown in a pan (you can add whatever seasoning you might like - garlic or onions, peppers, etc). Spread the sausage thinly over the dough, sprinkle with mozzerella and roll up and shape into a horseshoe. You might need to secure the edges of the dough with toothpicks. Rub with olive oil and bake on 350 until golden brown.

Really yummy!

Definitely little triangles of spanikopita! Maybe some shrimp - most people like it

and for dessert - something so easy and delicious are those frozen cream puffs. You just thaw and serve and I have yet to meet someone who doesn't devour them

i also like to do this recipe with pepperoni and mozarella cheese instead of the sausage.....

I made something very similar in my croakpot this weekend and it was fabulous....18 oz of Grape Jelly, 1 1/2 Jar of Chili sauce and frozen cocktail meatballs. Stir everything together and heat at 4 hours.
