FH and I want to get our wedding bands appraised, as well as my e-ring. Any suggestions on where we can go do this? I was thinking of just going to a jewelry store in the mall....Also, is there a charge to get the rings appraised?

FH and I got all our wedding jewelry appraised at the Jewelry judge in Garden city.....I dont know where you live but its worth the ride...he is very good!! It cost us $150 for my ering our wedding bands and a pair of earrings.....If you call there just ask for a price when you call and they can tell you.

We got all the rings appraised for free from the jeweler who sold them to us....

i used him too...great guy & i beleive you need an independent appraisal if you plan on getting insurance.

I also used him. He was excellent and I totally recommend him. My jeweler recommended him to us.

I got mine done at Good Old Gold in massapequa where I got my setting.
You should also try The Busy Bee jewlery exchange on Sunrise Highway near the Khols that used to be the Busy Bee flea market.

We took my ring to Gem Evaluation in the old EAB Plaza across from Nassau Coliseum. We worked with the owner, Theresa and she was wonderful. I believe it was around $75 per ring.

I called a few places first and would highly recommend doing that. Some jewelers will not give you a price over the phone because they base the cost of the appraisal on the value of the ring.
I used Bunty's in Commack and they were great. An appraisal is $35...that's it. So for your three rings it would be about $100.
