April 7th wedding at Milleridge report (LONG!!)

Fellow brides- Well, it's over... I can't believe it. It all went so fast. Sorry it's taken so long to report back to you all but I've been kind of in a fog. The Milleridge was awesome. We had the Milleridge florist, Chris, add more votives to the tables, had ivy hanging from the mantle with pillar candles and more votives. We also upgraded the centerpieces to a dozen roses. We explained to Chris what we wanted and he hit the nail on the head. Steve, our maitre de was unbelievably nice and on top of everything. He ran a tight ship and we couldn't want for anything. The staff was also great. Deborah, who we consulted and planned everything out with was great - very helpful and calming. We had a photographer from Mark Kauffman, another Mark-Mark Wilson. He took a ton of photos and was very kind to put up with me making suggestions for photo ops (I love to take photos, too). I can't wait to see the pics. We also had a candid photographer taking black and whites. In general, they were great because following the posed shots you didn't even know they were around-very inconspicuous. Now for Spin Around Sound... I am so psyched we had them. Before the wedding, I told Tom White (the owner)a million times that I didn't want the standard wedding party songs-We are Family, YMCA, conga lines, Hands Up, Chicken Dance, etc. This is just my personal preference-not to offend anyone. I just find it hard to really dance to these songs. I was really nervous about this part of the reception. My fiancée, now husband, wanted to be sure everyone danced but I didn't want that type of music. Well, Tom had everyone, including me, dancing the whole time. People are still telling me that it was the best music at a wedding they've ever gone to. Honestly, I would try to say hi to people and found myself running back to the dance floor because an awesome song was on and I didn't want to miss it. We used All Star Limos and had a 24 passenger mini luxury bus for the whole bridal party (totally fun-great way to go) and a Rolls for my Mom and Dad. The only thing I was annoyed with was that the bus was not able to go on major highways and had to take sideroads from Queens to Nassau. I was not told this by the limo company. I feel that had I know this I could have planned better in terms of timing. We were late because the bus got stuck in traffic on the side streets. Plus, the driver got lost. My dress was a Paloma Blanc and was terrific. I went to Lilletes in Baldwin and dealt with Christina. She was extremely helpful, professional and friendly throughout the whole process. She wasn't pushy either which was a change from other boutiques I went to. I would highly recommend Lillettes. I got my hair and makeup done at Salon de Amor in North Bellmore by Beth-April and Nikki assisted her. She was very patient and did a fantastic job. Tanya did my makeup and it lasted all night. Just right-not too much but just enough for the photos. If I can think of anything else I will let you know. Feel free to ask any questions. Lisa Maye

The ivy sounds so pretty on the mantle. Congratulations on being a Mrs. It`s so great, isn't it? We got our proofs back last weekend and it`s exciting to see all the pics - we`re trying to decide which pic for the thank you`s still. I hope your honeymoon was great. April 7th wedding at Milleridge report (LONG!!)

I told him to play anything that had a danceable beat to-Ricky Martin, Ray of Light by Madonna, clubish music but not too much, Mambo #5 for nieces/nephews, Bust a Move (that was a favorite). Tom really got it. Unfortunately, I forget the names of the two guys that assisted Tom-Tom MC'd. Hope that helps. Lisa

Elizabeth...

It was so much fun but I still can't get over how fast the day flew!! It was so surreal too. I had a hard time digesting that it was my wedding day but I was 'present' and had fun. The honeymoon was great too. Nice and relaxing. So much my head hurt the first day I had to go back to work from thinking too much. We got our pics yesterday too. Mark Wilson did an incredible job. We were soo happy with them. I will never be able to pick out ones for an album. Thanks!! Lisa Maye

April 7th wedding at Milleridge report (LONG!!)

I was wondering how was your bridal party entrance to the reception? If I remember correctly you were going to have them be walk into old tv theme songs. If you did that what were the songs you used and what song did you and your husband walk into:-)?

Good memory!!

Thanks for asking. We had his sis and brother-in-law, walk into People's Court (their last name is Peeples), the folks walked into What's Happening, Benny Hill, Mork and Mindy. The MOH and BM (my sis and his bro) were supposed to walk into Family Feud but the DJ played the wrong song. My husband and I walked into Star Wars with the fog and lights going. I just remember looking up to see my Dad hysterically laughing and it made it worth it for me. What a rush!! Not everyone caught on with the songs but we really had fun with it. And the 'smarter' guests appreciated it. Thanks for asking!! LM
