I'm getting married in March and my BM's are wearing purple dresses with silver sandals. I'm planning on buying them silver pashminas as a part of their gift. $200-300 for a shawl sounds a bit much to me...could you buy material and make them yourself, or have them made?
I think the shawl might be a good idea since it can be cold, in april, but I do agree that $200-$300 seems a bit much for something they might not even need.
if you're looking for something like a pashmina material, come to chinatown in NYC or any vendor on the street... they're $5-10 each, max... and beautiful... don't break your budget with something that expensive... even try a kiosk in the mall....
I left it up to my BMs whether or not they wanted them since it was an extra expense. One girl bought it but barely used it....I had one made for myself and wore it once! But I'm wearing it in our thank you picture! (In my profile photo)

I haven't gotten them yet but I'm hoping to find something at Century 21. Also check out www.cashmerepashminagroup.com, there's a sale going on in Manhattan at the Hilton, so I may look there too.
My girls are wearing Bill Levkoff and their dress came with a shawl. How much does it cost to make your own?
It depends on the fabric. The shop wanted to charge $50 ready made and $20 per yard for the fabric. I'm going to a fabric store in the city for a sheer and my FMIL is making them luckily:)
My BMs will wear the shawls for the church at my June wedding, however, they were included with their dresses. It would be good for your BMs to have them since it may or may not be chilly. Maybe try making them yourself by ordering extra yards of fabric.
My girls picked a dress that came with a jacket. But you can always find a seamstress that'll make them. Or you can buy the fabric and have the place that's altering their dresses do it.
My wedding is 4/22, we're doing shawls.

You can buy those $5 pashmina's that they sell everywhere....
I'm getting married in May and I got shawls made for my girls....it's up to them if they want to use them or not, but the bm's dress is kind of low cut, so I wanted to give them the option to 'cover up' if they want to.
