Hi! I think we may be neighbors!

My house is actually in N. Centereach. I had said S. Setauket because everyone I talk to about my house doesn't know where centereach is and think it is way far out east! (LOL)! So, since we are right across the street from S. Setauket (my backyard actually is in S. Setauket and my front yard centereach, literally)
It is just easier to say S. setauket then having to explain.

Anyway, We're on fiesta right off of Holiday Park. Where are you? When did you buy the house? When are you moving in?

Sorry about all the questions, but I am very curious now!

Hi Kelly!
We are neighbors! We actually had an accepted offer for a house on Holiday park, but it fell through because the owners decided not to move. We ended up going across Hawkins to Harrison avenue. Its the first street off of Smithtown Polk. We moved in last September. We love the house, its a ranch, which we weren't crazy about at first, but this house has an addition that added a loft about the kitchen and cathedral ceilings so it opens up the house and makes it so bright inside!
It really is a small world! That is funny that people think Centereach is so far out east, we're actually the middle of the island! Did you always live in this area? Do you work close by? I work in Port Jeff, so the commute is pretty easy. Sorry this got so long, I'm excited and curious too to have met a neighbor!

I can't believe that we're neighbors! My MOH lives off marktree, on spur. Just across Nichols from me. Probably just around you. I'm glad to hear you love the neighborhood. I grew up and live in smithtown. They people I work with mostly live in nassau, that's why they thing centereach is so far out east. They know setauket because it's right near stony brook university.

What does your fh and you do? My Fh and I are both teachers. We work in the same school as well (that's where we met).

Recently, I have run into a lot of couples buying houses in our area. They seem very nice and excited. Your house sounds beautiful. Ours is a 4 bedroom colonial. It needs cosmetic work on the inside, but nothing structural. I still can't believe we got it at such a great price.

How long did it take you to find your house? It seemed to take us forever, but when I look back, it wasn't long at all. Hopefully we should be moving in in July. I can't wait.

Well, It's great to meet a neighbor and to know there are nice friendly people living in our neighborhood (suddenly I feel like Mr. Rogers- LOL) sorry if it was corny.

I think I'm closer to you than you think. I'm on the same side of Nicolls as you are, I think. I live right across from Strathmore village. We looked for houses for about 3 months, but we didn't close on our house until 8 months after we found it because the people needed time to find a house, but when we did it was worth it!
My FH works in the Finance dept. at Computer Associates and I'm a pediatric physical therapist at St. Charles Hosp. We met in college in PA and my family is here. He moved here from NJ after college. I grew up in Holbrook and graduated from Sachem in '95. How bout you and your FH? Is he from the area also?

Hi neighbor!

If I'm correct, you are off jericho tpk. I think I know the area. Since you had looked at a house on holiday park, I'm sure you know where I am. I'm just a bit north of you, but very close! It would have been more of a coincidence if you had bought the house on holiday park.

I'm from Smithtown and graduated there in '91. My FH is from commack and graduated in '92. We are both teachers in smithtown (we work in the same building- that's where we met). I have special ed. kindergarten and he has 4th grade. We have both been there for 3 years now. I love working with him. We barely see eachother during the day because our rooms are in different halls, plus he has the older kids and their specials are at different times than mine. It's nice because we have the same friends and as a result have gotten close with a lot of people we work with.

Hopefully we will be closing on our house in late july. That's the plan for now. We both want to move in asap so we can have the summer to paint and remodle.

Please let me know if you have any advice on home ownership. It seems like like such a big step. I am very excited though. I'm glad to know someone in the same postition as us that we can campare notes with.
