Are any of you not going to work after you get married or have kids? And how does your FH feel about this?

Re: Are any brides doing this?
Well FH & I have talked about this very recently...After we get married, I would like to TTC approximately 6 months after...MY job is so flexible that I can actually work from home if deemed necessary...Fh says it is my choice but he would like me to stay home & raise our children...The thing is, his mother did not go back to work once she conceived her children..To this day, she still doesn't work...I told FH that I want to work when we have our 1st but once we have 2, I will be a SAHM until they are in school & then take my career back up...

Re: Are any brides doing this?
We have discussed this and I have told him that staying home with our kids is something that I would like to do temporarily if it is financially possible.
He agrees that if it is possible for us to live on his income when the time comes that Iwill stay home. I don't intend on staying home forever though, just while they are little. Personally, as much as I hate working, I think it is good for a woman to have a professional life outside of the home/family and it helps to keep you mentally stimulated!
Just my 2 cents!

Re: Are any brides doing this?
I have to go back to work after the wedding. My FH is a city fireman and just started so he's at the bottom of the todum (spelling?) pole. He still has to find part time work so basically I'm the one bringing home the bacon.
Hopefully after a baby (and thats a maybe) I can go down to PT. I like my job, I wouldn't want to leave it.

Re: Are any brides doing this?
i want to be a sahm more then anything. but not when i get preggo, i want to work until my 7th or 8th month and then not work until the kids are some what grown. not forever, i would be so freaking bored. fh knows this and agrees that it is a good idea, but he and i both know that if its not financially feasible, it will not happen. but we'll see in a few years..

Re: Are any brides doing this?
I think I would like to stay home for a while after we have children. But I am also thinking about having a small private practice with just a few clients. This way I would still have an income but also be able to spend time with the kids. Eventually, I would want to go back to work.

OMG yes I totally agree with you! When we have kids I would stay home for the first few months probably and then go back to work. Being a teacher is nice cause I'm home by 3 and get lots of time off. But to each her own!

i have to work after we get married . our incomes together leave us tight as it is . so if i was to leave we would be in the poor house. he just started a new job a few months agao and took a pay cut -but its well worth it in the long run .
as for kids both of us would love for me to stay home but we have to see where we are money wise by then .. we dont plan on having kids till im 28 or 29. so we will see
actually at my job we all chipped in and played the MEGA MILLIONS so if i hit that im like Ryan Seacrest and OUT !!!! LOL

Re: Are any brides doing this?
We're not planning on having kids until several years aftr we're married. I'm still working on graduating college, so I'm not sure where I'll be, but when we do have kids I want to stay home until they're in school, maybe do some part time work or work form home or even start a home business. I know our moms would love to help out, but I don't want someoen else raising my children. I never thought I would want to be a SAHM, but the more time goes on, the more i feel that that would be one of the most meaningful things i could do with my life.
TA: My FH is fine with it, but it depends on finances. Obviously if we are starving I'll have to get a sjob, but that's why I want to keep working part time or from home, do some crafts or something to make a few dollars while I raise the kids

Re: Are any brides doing this?
I talked to my FH about it and he is like no way your are not staying home. Well i told him that after I have kids i would like to stay home if finances allow which seems like the most smartest thing to say. He is not into women staying home and not working. He believes a woman should work just as hard as the man. I can't stand this about him sometimes. That characteristic of him drives me nuts. All in all I think i will be bored at home too. I really want to raise my children though but i dont know if a SAHM would work for a person like me. Once it happens we will see.

Re: Are any brides doing this?
I think I will continue working after my first child. But once the second comes...(and I plan on having 3 or 4)...I will stay home until they are in school all day. I'll go back to work then.FH agrees. As long as we can afford it, I love kids and my mother stayed home and raised me and my bros and sis's. It was great to have her home when I needed her. All my friend's mom's worked and hardly spent too much time with their kids. I guess it depends how you were brought up too. If your mother worked, I'm sure that's what a person would be used to and they would follow in her steps. History is always repeating itself.

Re: Are any brides doing this?
My FI and I are both teachers and my FI eventually wants to do adminstration...which will be a pay increase for him (and us )
I would like to stay home with my kids when they are little..I hear so many horror stories about child care and it scares me.
