are any of your df or dh addicted to online games?
I wanted to know who shares the same annoyance with it. My husband has been playing this game called everquest and he is literally obsessed with it. I have to fight with him sometimes just so that he gets off the computer. Honestly, I don't even know what is the big deal. anyone else?

Girl, I feel your pain. Thankfully DH doesn't play Everquest, but he plays Madden football online, this retarded all-text game, and Party Poker. When I first met him though, he played this game similar to Everquest and it was his LIFE. It's taken a few years for him to scale back to the amount of playing his does now, but it's only because we kept constantly having fights. Stupid games should not threaten your relationship, and that's pretty much what it was doing to us.
Even though his game playing isn't as bad, he still spends just about every waking moment in front of that damn computer, chatting on all kinds of college sports and car message boards I'm trying to get him to post on LIW so at least we can have a conversation!
Good luck and if things go bad, just unplug the modem

Oh yes... I am an Everquest widow... have been for years now.... it died down for awhile but then Everquest II came out!
For awhile it was Star Wars, now he's looking into World of Warcraft...sad that I know all this.
These massive online multiplayer RPGs are VERY addicting, evidently, and it can be really really annoying for the widows like us.
There is one thing that I find works SOMETIMES. If he's really engrossed, I just let him play and play for hours on end without saying a word to him. I bustle around the house, go out, get things done, etc -- the entire weekend will go by and he's not moved from his PC -- at that point he starts to get sick of it and takes a break. He realizes that he's being totally unproductive and basically wasting hours upon hours of his life.
Yes, they need it to unwind every once in awhile, but come on!! The problem also is, that these games are so involved, you really can't just play for 1 hr and get anything accomplished.

Omg, I'm glad i'm not the only widow. he is also dying to get everquest 2 but we have to get a better video card. It's funny because he said that once the baby was born, he was going to change and not play as much, Yeah right.

DH said the SAME thing to me! I told him if he's lying he'll have heLL to pay No way am I going to work full-time, do all the cooking and cleaning, AND take care of a kid while he sits on his a$$ playing video games!!!!

I'm an online gamer
I don't play everquest but I've had my days of Diablo and Ultima Online and others..
For Xmas jim got me a laptop so I can play and he can still have a computer to use. Now I'm working on upgrading my video card, processor and maybe my soundcard so I can play bigger and better games.
It's NOT just a guy thing anymore!

oh definitely not. I know a lot of women play also and he has asked me I would give a try but I just don't like it. It's not my type of game.

My FI doesn't play online games but he just did buy himself X-BOX...even though he has play station already...and also he got special wiring to play people online! Yeah we don't have a wedding to pay for or anything!

IMO... video games are only fun IF you can play them online.
I get absolutely no satisfaction from playing games against computer opponents. There are exceptions to the rule... but 90% of the games I play are online (either PC or Xbox).
There is just something thats more satisfying when beating a human opponent instead of a computer one.

I don't play anything online, but I have the old Crystal Castles on my computer. I love it. Brings me back to 1986 EVERY TIME.
I'd get hooked on online games, so I stay away. I offered to get DH a Playstation or whatever thing is in now and he said no thank you as I'd be a game widow too.

My DH too. He promised to give it up for new year's, but he has played a couple games since then. It's gotten better, though he still plays in-person poker (the reason I am ALONE tonight...).
